I've looked around several times, to no avail. I'd love to find somebody who owns one of those Smitch Corona processors, and I'd rent some time on it (or even buy it in a pinch) just to print out my files. No luck so far.

Lost my USB stick at my school in chestermere

Cannot help much with the one you lost, except if your have pre-backup for your USB, you might have some old data to refer.

Suggest in future you should conside the USB sticks that have:
1. SyncBack - is a good tool to allow you to perform backup USB data to your own computer (or vice versa). You may either install the software in your PC, or have the "no install" version in your USB storage device to backup to other places when you on the move.

2. Biometrics fingerprint recognition USB - This is not for recover your data, but to keep save your data that important away from others to view it, if they got hold of your USB. This type of USB cost is slightly higher (and slightly slower) due to data can be encrypted on written USB, with only recognize your fingerprint (or password, in case your fingerprint not working properly).

3. 3rd online storage portable apps - If you are out side with internet access to the computer, you may use online storage as your 1st (store everything online) or 2nd (store for backup only) line for your data. Example: Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive portable softwares.

Hope this post helps.

Lost data 2.5 disc drive

The damage of hard disk of a Window operating system enabled computer or of any storage media such as pen drive, ZIP drive, etc is the common problem that is faced by the users. But the solution for this is quite uncommon, that is, the software Kernel for FAT - NTFS - Windows Disk Recovery which recovers data loss due to any problem. When attempting to copy blu ray disc message reads disc not detected.(emachine e525)

Although the same shape and size, Blue Ray disks are a completely different format to DVD's and CD's. You drive won't recognise them

You'll need to get a Blue ray RW drive, and it doesn't stop there. Because there a great deal more information on a blueray disk, you'll need several dvd disks to copy the info to a DVD.

Bluerays hold about 25Gb of data, DVD's hold 4.7 GB and CD's hold 700Mb data.

Passwords have me locked out

Your Computer is shipped with the Recovery partition, a hidden partition in the Computer. You can use the Recovery partition to reinstall the preinstalled Operating System, Applications and the Drivers. Please note that performing a System Recovery will delete all the data from the Computer and restores the Computer back to the factory settings. However, you can backup the important data using the Rescue Data feature available in the Recovery Center (Recovery partition). Let me provide the complete details to backup the data and to perform the System Recovery.

  • Please restart the Computer and press the F10 when the VAIO logo appears to access the Recovery Center.
  • Please select Rescue Data option to backup the important data.
  • You can save all the data present in the C Drive by selecting Automatic Rescue Data option and you can backup the individual data or folder be selecting Custom Rescue Date option.
  • You can copy data from the hard disk to an external hard drive, external flash media drive, recordable Blu-ray Disc, DVD or CD.
  • Once the Rescue Data option is done, please select Restore C Drive option in the Recovery Center to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
  • This should resolve the issue.
  • You can view the steps mentioned in link below
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C473668

Please let me know if this does not work.

Good Luck!!!

Trying to do a backup it says there is not enough disk space available when there is plenty

Probably need more info, such as what utility you're using and where you're trying to back up to. If you?re trying to back up to a CD, make sure it is a fully functional CD-R/W or other writable drive. In most cases folks will try to copy directly onto a CD that is not formatted or to a disc that has been finalized (made readable on other computers), with little or no data on it. Once finalized the "available" disc space is inaccessibly. If you think this is the case, format a new CD-R or CD-R/W disc and try your backup again. If you are trying to back up several directories, such as /My_Documents, you may indeed have too much data for a CD to handle; particularly if you have subdirectories you forgot you had. Try backing up smaller chunks of data to see if that helps. If it does, you can back up several times, or gradually increase the data amount to maximize the disc space usage.

Transferring data from old computer to new computer

If its connected to the internet email the files to yourself and then save to your new computer. If its not online, you could try taking out the hard drive, make it a slave in your new computer and moving the data from one drive to the other then take it out and good to go.

16 GB USB 2 MEMORY STICK I cannot format the pendrive. 2)when i double click on the removable disk,it says ''Please insert a disk into Drive E :'' 3)i used a pendrive format utility but the problem...

I'm a little confused as you mention both Drive E. which suggests Windows and gnome which suggest linux.

WARNING: Formatting the disk will erase any data on it. Do not format the disk if you are trying to get the data off it that was on it yesterday.

It is possible that the partition table has been corrupted.

If you are using windows. You can either try right clicking on the drive (not double clicking) from Windows Explorer (My Computer) and clicking format. Choose the file system type and go. Alternatively, you could work through the disk management administrative tool. Right Click on My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management. Right click on the volume and format it.

If you are using linux, see if you have a valid partition table using fdisk for the device. Then, after creating the partition, use mkdosfs to format the drive. If you have formatted the drive as a linux partition, such as ext2, ext3, or reiserfs, it is likely that Windows will not see it as a valid drive.

Hp media center - hard disc failure iminent

I am sure that noone wants to tel you thins but when you go the Hard disk failer iminent that was so you woudl shut it down and transfer everything onto another disk. Once it crashes, such as your has, you cannot recover the data w/o very expensive equiptment or costly contracting out the HD for data recover.      About the only thing that you can do now is replace the hard drive, download a   recovery disk from HP,if one is available, for your model, If you have not already made one, and reinstall the software from the disk.
