It will help to read the manual of the calculator. As you can see from the screen capture below, the FX-83 GT PLUS ( which has more features than the FX-83 GT( does not have a solve mode or an Equation mode. So, you cannot solve equations on the calculator.

See if it has an equation mode, and select quadratic equations. If it has a SOLVE feature, enter equation, provide a guess and solve.

Your scientific calculator is unable to solve complex equation with complex coefficients. You should try to solve by hand directly using the quadratic formula or by factoring the polynomial in z

failing that, another way would be to set z=x+iy, substitute this for z, carry out the algebra and try to separate real and imaginary parts. But your two equations will constitute a system of two quadratic equations. I am not aware of any general method to solve coupled nonlinear equations.

To find the solution, first find the value of y for each equation.

Then substitue one equation into the other so that you only the x variable left.

Then just solve for x.

Once you have a value for x, then you can easily solve for y.

So for the first equation:

3y - 6x = -3

3y = 6x - 3

**y = 2x - 1**

Now for the second equation:

2y + 8x = 10

2y = -8x + 10

**y = -4x + 5**

Since both equations equal y, they also equal each other, therefore:

2x - 1 = -4x + 5

Now just solve for x:

2x + 4x = 5 + 1

6x = 6

**x=1**

Now substitute x=1 into either original equation:

y = 2x - 1

y = 2 (1) - 1

y = 2 - 1

**y = 1**

Therefore the solution is x=1 and y=1

IN the EQN mode you can solve linear equations in one, two and three unknowns; the quadratic equation; and the cubic equation.

Enter the EQN mode by following the instructions on the following screen capture. Press 5:EQN

You have three types of equations.

Once you select the type of equations, a template is displayed where you enter the relevant coefficients.

Under each label (a, b, etc. ) enter a coefficient and press ENTER to move to the next. With a cubic equation, or a linear equation in 3 unknowns, you have to use the Right arrow to display the cells where you enter the value of d.

After you input all necessary coefficients press the = sign to get the solution.

To use the SOLVE feature, see the screen capture that follows. It comes from the Casio manual.

In your manual, Appendix Program Library, (Page A1) you have the listing of the problem to solve the quadratic equation. Type it in your calculator and execute it.

You can add these equations just like you would numbers

3x + 2y = 7

5x - 2y = 1

-----------------------

8x =8

x=1

Now plug x = 1 back into either equation and you can solve for y

Y = 2

When you add the 2 equations together the +2y and the -2y cancel

out

I do not understand what you mean by solve complex equations, but if you want to manipulate complex numbers here are the tools you need to enter your complex numbers. Operations and function evaluations do not need special symbols.

If I'm not misunderstanding you, this isn't an equation you need a calculator for, it's basic algebra. Factor out the z from the right side and divide x by the remaining binomial. That's as far as you can go with an equation like this unless you have specific values for these variables, unless this is a question from college Cal 3-4, which I have not yet completed.
