Question about Hardware & Accessories

1 Answer

I have an ariston combi A boiler with a grasslin analogue timer. The timer ticks round but when it reaches the time when it's meant to turn the heating on (no matter what time I set it to) the clock stops and the heating doesn't come on. If I manually move the clock to the correct time again the heating will come on and the clock will tick as normal until the next day when it is due to turn the heating on again. Is it the timer or something else that's wrong?

Clock motor has gone bad.
Order replacement timer module:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#FM1
Usually the model number is on back of timer module.

SOURCE: timer doesnt tick but works if moved manually

The timer has come to the end of it's serviceable life. Being mechanical, they wear out and are not designed to be econonomically fixed.

It needs replacing.

I have lost the instructions for my boiler and I have seen that the timer is a Grassling timer, i don't know when it is on or off, it might not even work as the radiators seem to stay hot whatevr I do.

Without knowing which Grasslin timer you have, I cannot offer specific instructions:
Find Grasslin timers and manuals at following link:

I am familiar with Grasslin timers, and you can add a comment with specific question and I will respond.

Ariston combi boiler

sounds like your diverter valve is passing on the boiler, this diverts the heat either to the rads or to the taps, if its passing through the heating chanel it'll heat up the rads- may also be a scaled up secondary heat exchanger, hope this helps you
