Re: Lid will not open!

There is no easy solution. Qualified Sony servicers have a service remote that connects to the lanc jack. There are hexadecimal codes supplied in sequence to cause the micro to output a signal to open the door. However, disassembly by a qualified tech can allow mecahnical release as well. I can tell you this is not an a do it yourself fix. This particular model once it is unhappy with a disc will never open, the problem was irradicated in subsequent models. Third party brand discs and discs with surface marring, especially fingerprints, will lock up the works.

Dew light

Dew is likely to form in the following circumstances: ?When moving the camcorder from a cold place to a warm place. ?When placing the camcorder in a cold room which is then heated rapidly. ?When moving the camcorder outdoors from an air conditioned room or car. ?When placing the camcorder in the direct path of air blowing from an air conditioner. ?When placing the camcorder in a humid room. Dew will gradually form on the head drum of your camcorder and make the video tape stick to the head. This causes damage both to the head and the tape. When dew forms, recording and playback may not function properly. When ?DEW? flashes, remove the cassette, leave the cassette compartment open, and wait for a few hours to allow the camcorder to acclimatise to the surrounding temperature. To use the camcorder again, turn on the power after waiting for a few hours. Be sure that ?DEW? has disappeared. Do not insert a cassette while ?DEW? is flashing; this may result in damage to the tape.

1. The light is not on after turn on power 2. The cassette holder could not come out after open cover.

There is a reset button behind the LCD .Open LCD press slithly the rest button and dont forget to use a fully charged battery. For the cassette to rise after opening the lid for the cassette ,make sure you open the lid up to its end,if doesnt respond close it half way and back again. If my trick worked "Ke tsona" meaning good shot! if this is always happen to your camera and then try to warm the camera using a hair blower you should open the lid cover of the mechanical.......... turns off the camera and unplugged the ac adaptor..if you using the battery take it out ... then place your hand to the mechanical to sense the heat of the camera when you using the hair blower and when you feel too hot then stop the blower.... doing this must not exceed 20 second...... then wait at least 1 minute to cool the camera and put the adaptor or the battery then power on the camera.... if you doing all this procedure this and nothing happen....i suggest you to go to the service center for replacing the dew sensor....

Most often, in this case, the locking relay has failed. Sony has an improved part for this. It requires a Sony qualified servicer. I have replaced them before. Good luck, magic seadog

Lens Cover will not open or close

OMG! I had the same issue and blew on the lens. To easy to be true, but it worked! I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I turned the camcorder on and off several times, and it worked every time! Sure beats the $341 Sony was going to charge to fix it!!!!
