SOURCE: completely dead

One of 4 things.. bad power to unit (1/2 blown breaker) blown fuse behind the lower front panel ($12), broken motor switch or bad door switch..

Go with the cheap parts first.. door switch and fuse. test your power in with a meter..

mine does this.. 3 beeps and once in a while goes completely dead.. doing the hair-dryer trick fixes it every time but only temporarily...

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

SOURCE: I have a siemens ultra

Hello,

This means there is an air flow issue most likely. Try running the dryer without the vent connected. If the dryer runs, the vent needs to be cleaned in the wall. If the dryer still does not, the thermistor on the front bulkhead will probably need to be cleaned or replaced.

What is the problem with my dryer?

The motor starting circuit is failing. Confirm this by giving the drum a push start when it hums. Most likely, the centrifugal switch on the motor is sticking (due to lint buildup) or broken. It has a mechanical component that operates an electrical switch. Check the mechanical operation, then check the switch. Also, check that the motor electrical connector is seated completely.

Dryer with no heat

If it's a 220vac dryer make sure you hace 220vac at the wall plug. If that's there check the element for breaks and verify there are no burned off wires or loose connections. If element is good (check with ohm meter) check for thermal overload open on the side of the element.

Replaced control board on dryer still getting e61 code

The problem is not with the dryer as confirmed by the other identical dryer brought by the dealer. The problem is in the wiring of the receptacle where the dryer is being plugged in as characterized by error code E61 which means the control board is receiving a high voltage. The dryer operates both on 110VAC for the controls including the motor and 220VAC dedicated for the heating circuit. The receptacle must be configured according to the specifications of the dryer. Refer to the diagrams below and configure the receptacle according the plug that came with the dryer. Voltage across L1 and L2 is 220VAC, L1 and Neutral is 110VAC, L2 and Neutral is 110VAC.

Just bought a dryer, can i put a 120v plug on it? My plugs are 120v.

No. Electric dryers run on 220vac
If you do not have a 220vac plug at the wall, you will neede an electrician to install one for you.

Hope this helps...

I push the power and start button and the sensing light comes on but the dryer does nothing

Unless you open the dryer the actual position cannot be confirmed. But I suspect that the main switch line voltage be checked,If there is no loose connections in the connectors then must check the volatage on the motor on switch on. The motor can be the suspect.

Drum is not spinning i have just bought it of a

Are you able to hear the motor kick on when you try to start the dryer? If so, then likely belt has come off. If you can't, then check for 120 volts at each pole of the plug referring to neutral. Then check for 240 volts across both poles. The electric motor is usually 120vac, and the heating elements are 220vac. Since the motor draws so little current, the manufacturers typically just put it on 1 leg or the other.

If you are missing 120vac on either pole, check the breaker for the dryer. Turn it off, then back on. See if dryer works normally now.

If you measure across both poles, and come up with anything other than around 220vac, then double check the breaker, turn it off, and then back on. If still not working, and you don't have 220vac across both poles, then the plug is likely miswired.
