SOURCE: My magellan GPS Roadmate 1400 hard reset
there is a little pin hole on the side on the unit. you need a paper clip to reset it
SOURCE: how do I change the battery in a magellan roadmate
remove the the four screws from the back cover and the back will come off exposing the battery.
careful while removing the cover, the speaker wire is connected to it but you can change the battery with it connected.
chance are its not the battery!
make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for
awhile, then hold the power button (upto ten seconds) until it
starts..if that fails
the following magellan
2000,2200t,2500,3000,3100,3140,4000,4040 and the 4050 are known to have
faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps
is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power
port...i sell these power ports and will repair them for anyone thats not
able to do it themselves.
you can get it repaired, or the part here
or buy the port here
if you need further help, just let me know

SOURCE: my magellan roadmate 1440 will not turn on? Is

SOURCE: i got problem with my gps magellan roadmate,
It is possible that your firmware may be out of date... Many of the 1440s manufactured in the spring, summer, and fall of 2009, shipped with v1.x fimware... Magellan has recently released a couple of newer versions (v2.05 and 2.20) that supposedly eliminated the "device needs to be restarted" for best performance... This firmware can be downloaded from Magellan's Support Web-Site, once you have registered your name and GPS-Unit... Unfortunately, a couble of Chat-Rooms still mention "intermittant" issues with "Device-Restarts", but far less often... This error may be related to length of time that unit is powered up... Hopefully Magellan will come out with even a newer firmware revision in the next few weeks, that will totally eliminate even the intermittant Device-Restart problems...
