SOURCE: DVD Drive Replacement VX-500

SONY does not use off the shelf drives for their units. Newer recorders are not even built by them. They are rebadged Lite-On and sometimes LG. If this were a Pioneer, you could get a new Pioneer PC drive recorder to replace it with. SONY wants you to buy a new unit and I can bet it will be too costly for you to obtain the SONY drive. Solution, do not buy SONY, they do not care about their customers.

SOURCE: DMR-EX75 error U81

I had this problem when first bought player, and as you checked on forums which suggested software error and said get replacement. Took to approved repairer who had it on test bed for 2 weeks with no problems. Brought it home connected it up and since then (6 months) no error codes. Think my problem was caused by connecting cable to AV1 rather than AV2 as I have now (HDMI cable to television) but could just be a coincidence. Probably a bit simplistsic and you may have already tried this but thought worth mentioning anyway - good luck!

SOURCE: Phillip DVD Hard drive power failure

You should take firt a voltimeter and test for 5 and 12 volts at power input to de HD,(pluged to the wall) as some times is the power with has been fried...if so test diodes first and transformers then (unpluged from the wall...) if not ok and you do not know how to fix the power source take it to an electronic shop and they will perform a standard repair as it is only a power source......

Amplifiers are assembled with many of the same components as other appliances, so fixing basic elements is similar. For example, cords may not consistently deliver electricity, switches and controllers can cause problems, and fuses may need to be replaced. Frequently, however, what the amplifier needs most is simply a thorough cleaning with some canned air and/or contact cleaner.
The first step in fixing internal parts in your amplifier is to open the unit up. Most amplifiers are encased in a two-piece housing--top-front and bottom-back.
audioamplifier3.jpg Besides fuses accessed from the back of the cabinet, many amplifiers include one or more internal fuses. Disassemble an amplifier:
  1. Make sure that the electrical cord is unplugged from the wall receptacle.
  2. Remove screws on the side, back, or bottom to separate the cover from the chassis.
  3. Slide the two halves apart to expose the internal components mounted on the chassis (lower frame).
  4. Inspect the internal end of the electrical cord for looseness or damage caused by being pulled (a common problem) and replace as needed.
  5. If there is no power, but the cord works, look for an internal fuse. Test the fuse and replace as needed.
  6. Use a can of compressed air to carefully blow away dust that is attracted to electronic components. If excessive, use a vacuum cleaner with a plastic tip (so delicate parts won't receive static electricity) to clean the inside of the unit.
  7. Use electrical contact cleaner to clean the input jacks and speaker terminals. If one of the input jacks is disconnected from the wires, either reconnect or resolder it.

I have actually fixed some where this happens, need to open it and take a look, none just blow the fuse as it is not a short but excessive voltage the does the damage.

usually fried foil runs on the board, toasted parts designed for 120 getting 220 and filter caps popped.

there is also the consideration if fixed will it hold up long term or have repeated issues.

unless very minor damage is found and the unit is not a cheap one replace it and move on.

I have a kicker ZR600 was shorted i dont have any idea how fixed my problem the 6 power ic's was toasted

mmmmm toast is correct, you may be lucky, examine the unit, it may have a fuse that actually took the short and simply replace it, if this was bypassed then the internal banks will be fried {toast}. The cost of repairs will exceed a replacement cost, I wish you Good luck

E68 showing up on tv screen

E68: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it, This can also be caused by a Hard Drive Eprom Error. Some also believe this might be caused by a problem with the fans. If the unit operates successfully without the hard drive, simply replace the HD. If the unit continues to show the error code with no hard drive connected, this will confirm that there are serious issue that concern the internal connection. Contact Microsoft in this case.the console will need to be repaired.

How do I replace soap dispenser pump mechanism?

Our brand new Avalon model had this problem. It sure appears to be a design defect or defective part. After contacting customer support, they sent a replacement pump (the internal part, not the whole unit).

After removing the unit from your sink, holding the top pull firmly with constant pressure on the pump assembly. It will pop off, but you have to pull pretty hard.

I suggest running water through the top of your unit before putting the new pump assembly on it. Ours had black 'junk' inside even though it was brand new. The new unit just slides on in the reverse process of removing the old one.
