IF YOU HAVE CHECKED FOR WATER AND THE MOTOR UNIT IS DRY, DO YOU HEAR CLICKING COMING FROM YOUR MAIN CONTROL BOARD? IF SO THE MAIN BOARD WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Your armature has a dead spot. Either replace it or get a generator rebuild shop to test it on a growler, and fix the open winding. You can do it if you ohm between ajacent brush blocks and re-stake the wire clamp on any that ohm over 1 ohm. You MIGHT only have a dirty commutator which can be solved with crocus cloth.

Man, you have a job ahead of you. First, if the unbreakable shaft is cracked or broken, you will have to replace it, for it will leak into the motor too. If your unit has the sonar sensor in the front and it has had water in it, the unit can corrode severely and need a lot of parts besides seals. The wiring to the sonar runs in a protective shield bonded to the magnet housing and one of the long screws holds it in there. Remember to take the wiring to the sonar out AFTER you remove the big motor feed wires, and replace it BEFORE you reinstall the red and black cables. Some grease seems to ensure the o'rings slide on metal parts during reassembly rather than tear. It's quite a job.
