Question about HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer
We have an "Incompatible Cartridge" error even tho it's an HP 95 cartridge. We had the HP 95 colour cartridge refilled, but the printer says it's incompatible. Any suggestions on getting past this error?

Try uninstalling printer, reboot computer then reinstall printer drivers. do not accept HP updates as they block non HP consumables. Update manually if needs must.

It is pretty clear that you have a defective color cartridge. Return it to your vendor for a replacement. You may have some success cleaning the contacts as shown here, but most likely you need a warranty replacement color cartridge.

Maybe you did not refill and insert it very well.
follow this steps in refilling your ink
1. remove the ink cartridge from the printer
2. make a hole at the top end of the cartridge, the hole can be made under the label on the cartridge by using a sharp/hot pin.
3. if you are using a syringe and needle in refilling, make sure you did not insert it into the hole too much so that the cartridge does not get damaged in the process.
4. make sure the ink is not over-filled to avoid spillage which can cause a hell of damage on you printer as it does to my previous one.
5. Gently use the label or a masking tape to cover the hole and insert it into your printer.
Note: The printer gives a message that the cartridge is empty or non compatible, ignore the message and continue with your printing.
It is also advisable that you refill your cartridge not more than 2 times.

Well....I solved the problem......bought a new Canon printer!!
I tried everything...unplugging, cleaning everything that was mentioned above. I was onto HP online support several time, but they were absolutely no help at all...they basically told me that the cartridge must be damaged or ink dried up and to buy a new cartridge to see if the error persisted.....I don't think so!!!
I will never by HP again after having issues with the last two I have had. I love my new Canon printer it is EVERYTHING that HP wasnt.

These cartridges have expiration dates, they can be refilled until they hit that expiration date, Either go to a real refiller that will put a new chip on the cartridge or take the printer apart and remove the battery inside it, Walgreens doesn't know what they're doing when it comes to refilled cartridges
