12 volt in dash power outlet 2001 dodge dakota

My air pump was plugged into the 12v power outlet and running for several minutes and then stopped working. i checked for blown fuse in main inside fuse box as well as possible problem fuse relay under the hood. all was fine. do you know if there is an inline fuse attached by wire at the back of this unit or should i replace the entire outlet? thanks, anton

The power outlet uses a 20amp fuse marked D in the box near the battery.
The cig lighter uses a 15amp fuse in the inside fuse box.

Yes they do but I would rather think you have a bad battery cabe connection to the system, sometimes the battery cable corrudes and you can't see it try replacing the cable ends and the connector ends espically if they are by the battery.

SOURCE: 2003 dodge caravan won't start

My 2003 dodge caravan would not start after driving about 1/2 hour. I stopped for coffee and when got back in to start it started I switched gears and it stalled. I tried to start again switched gears then it started but only for 2 sec. No clicking, no cranking sound just would not start but battery functions were great. Spent 2 days with a mechanic who could not resolve so sent to Dodge. After a day of putting wires back and checking out the problem they said it was the computer. Said that it was bad and could be replaced at no charge due to malfunction. Yes, it worked fine afterwards no more problems. They also said that some of the computers are found to be defective like this one so I hope this helps you in the right choice to have the dealer check it out if you are unable to get a computer reading and there is no obvious short in the system. Free sounded very good but as you know there is no such thing as really free as they got me for other things $350 worth. ouch!

I have a 2000 dodge dakota truck that starts missing when it warms up

run fault codes and look for injector problems and coils problems. I would also advise a compression test to check for valves being held open when hot. If you have a distributor and a single coil then check that the coil is compatible with the system as some coils are straight 12 volts and others start on 12 volts but run on 7.5 volts through a resistor . 7.5 volts coils if used without a resistor will break down as the coil overheats. check the resistor or resistor wire.

DODGE DURANGO TROUBLE SHOOTING

The power to the ignition coil comes from the Auto shut down relay. It also runs the fuel pump relay. When you turn the key on it will read 12 volts, but only for about 5 seconds. The auto shut down relay is controlled by the ecm. Check the power on the coil while cranking the engine. When cranking the ecm will lock on the ASD relay.

I was driving and my 96 Dodge Dakota stopped running. It would not start and I just filled the gas tank about 10 minutes earlier.

Sounds like your fuel pump went bad. Get a can of starting fluid. Have someone help. One person to start the car and one to spray the starting fluid into the air cleaner or air pickup tube. Do this for about 60 seconds. If the car starts your fuel pump is bad.

2006 Dodge Dakota - power outlet doesn't work. The #28 fuse checks fine.

Take a 12v test light and wrap the probe with electrical tape, leave about
1/4" exposed. With the key on, ground the test light wire and insert the
probe into the outlet and touch it to the center power contact. If the light
stays out and you have a good ground, you don't have +power at the
outlet. If the fuse is good, you may have a bad wire or socket. But if it
lights up, we go to the next step. Touch the probe to a known +power
source and ground the wire to the metal side in the outlet. If you don't
get light, check the ground for the outlet socket. Repair as needed.
If it lights up, then you know you have power and ground. Check the
plug on the device you're trying to use. I hope I was of some help.
Good luck.

Not getting much heat from the heater.

have u checked the heater core inlet and outlet hose's are the hot, one hot side one cool indicates a plugged up core. if that is ok u may have a stuck air temperature control blend door in the dash air distribution system, also make sure your engine reaches at least 180 deg F.

1997 Dodge Dakota 2WD with A/C. 135000 miles. Blower fan stopped working after a period of working intermittently. How do I replace it? It seems to be buried behind the dash and the ventilation air...

Wait, before you change that blower motor try replacing the blower motor resistor. It is located on the fire wall on the passanger side, under the hood. Should cost about 10 to 12 dollars and take about five minutes.Dakota's seem to go through these regularly.

2001 Dodge Dakota

I'm assuming this truck has Power Steering. (my 2000 Dodge Dakota does) Because the power steering pump is causing a strain on the engine when you turn the steering wheel and it is also being strained by putting the truck in 4 wheel drive, A simple tune up might be in order. By tune up I mean spark plugs, spark plug wires, air cleaner, Distributor cap and rotor button. I would also check the timing on the engine and if possible change the fuel filter (The fuel filter is a real bear on this truck because it is in the fuel tank along with the fuel pump and sending unit)
