Will I have a problem with bluetooth headset compatibility when I download the latest version of skype? If not, is there a better one to get for this computer?
No it should not. the only thing that matters here is synching the bluetooth headset to your system and if that works , the skype should also work fine.
IT works for me when i skype pairing my BT headset.

Make sure you are using the latest version of Skype.
Make sure that Bluetooth works on your computer. You can refer to your
computer manufacturer's documentation or website for details on how
to set up Bluetooth on your computer. You want to ensure that the
Bluetooth software and drivers (known as the Bluetooth stack) on your computer supports the Headset Profile (HSP). It's recommended that you download and install the latest drivers for your Bluetooth stack.
Pair your Bluetooth device with your computer. How you do this will
depend on both the Bluetooth stack on your computer, and the Bluetooth
device you are using.
Make the Bluetooth device your Skype audio device:
Sign in to Skype and in the Tools menu, select Options...
Under Audio settings, select your Bluetooth device from the Microphone, Speakers and Ringing drop-down list.
Remember that not all Bluetooth headset features may be available when making a
call with Skype. For example, whether the buttons on your headset
function correctly depends on your Bluetooth stack.
Dear User, Your problem maybe a corrupted third party software of Skype or not compatible with MS Windows7. It is better for you to uninstall the current version you are using and install the latest version. This is the official website where you can download for free.http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-computer/windows/
You will need the same version of bluetooth and the headset. Version 2.1 is backwards compatible with version 1.2. That being said, your phone will need to have the higher version of bluetooth technology. So therefore your headset will not work with this phone.
I've successfully paired this headset with Vista but only for Skype. In Control Panel set the Bluetooth discovery and it should pair OK but then you need to run Skype which will find the headset and ask if you want to use it. The solution is a bit temperamental because the microphone volume is usually either low or there is too much background noise.
PS3 supports Bluetooth V2.0, in fact the Playstation branded headset is V2.1. All versions of Bluetooth are backwards compatible. Are you sure that the headset is going into proper pairing mode?
