I don't know what your level of mech knowlwege is for this engine , but the rear won't move because the engine wont run, it's designed that way on purpose , you'll need to do some basic troubleshooting of engine to maybe get it going again , Does it turn over ? does it have spark at plug? is it getting fuel? answer these and you'll have a better understanding of whats not making it run and know where to go from there

Front wheels on manual mower lock when pushing for awhile.

1 Locate the height adjustment lever on the inside of the left rear wheel.
2 Kneel next to the mower and push the left height adjustment lever toward the center of the mower. This will unlock the lever from the locking pin on which the height is currently set.

3Rotate the lever toward the front of the mower to lower the height of cut, or toward the rear of the mower to raise the height of cut.

4 Release the lever over the locking pin closest to the desired height of cut.

5 Repeat these steps with the adjustment lever on the right-side rear wheel. Be sure to set the right wheel lever to the same position as the left-side wheel's lever for an even cut.

Craftsman mower #247.887760 rear drive. rear wheels lock-up when you try to pull mower backwards

The rear wheels are locked to the drive train. To pull or push the mower, you must pull out the release probably at the back of the mower, near the transmission.

Lawn mower will start, but won't move????

If you have had either of the rear wheels off, remove the cover from the center and observe the shaft with the engine running and transmission in gear. If the shaft is turning, you have lost the 1/4 inch key that locks the axle to the wheel to make it go

Sounds like you have problems inside your gear box, The easiest way to check this is to stand the mower up on it's backend and try to turn one wheel and hold the other. You should be able to do this if you get any bucking or the rear end locking up your problem is going to be in the gearbox. FYI make sure you lock your clutch pedal down so the drive disk does not contact the friction disc
