I just took my Mitsubishi WS-65315 65" in to be repaired for the same problem and was told that it needed a new main circuit board part number 930b899005 as was told they wanted to charge me $1100.00. So I told them not to do the repair and picked up my tv and found that same part at Sears parts for only $225.00. Some of these TV repair places are theifs.

NOT GOOD NEWS... IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BLUE CRT IS SHORTED. THE ORIGINAL PART IS N.L.A.(NO LONGER AVAILABLE) THEY DO MAKE A GENERIC REPLACEMENT, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY ARE AS GOOD AS O.E.M.
YOU CAN TAKE OFF FRONT OF T.V. AND ADJUST THE SCREEN DOWN ON THE FOCUS BLOCK. IT IS THE BLACK BOX WITH 6 ADJ. ON IT 3 ARE FOCUS. 3 ARE SCREEN . TURN THE BLUE ALL THE WAY DOWN , THEN WITH THE BACK OF A PLASTIC OR RUBBER SCREWDRIVER HANDEL YOU CAN TAP ON THE NECK OF THE CRT, NOT TO HARD. SOME TIMES YOU CAN CLEAR THE SHORT OUT OF THE CTR. IF THIS WORKS LET THE SET WARM UP FOR 10-20 MIN. THEN TURN THE COLOR ALL THE WAR OFF, THEN SET THE BLUE LEVER UNTIL YOU HAVE A GOOD BLACK AND WHITE PICTURE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TURN IT UP YOU CAN DAMAGE THE CTR IF THE LEVEL IS TO HIGH. ERROR 8 IS A.K.B. ERROR THAT MEANS THE CRT'S ARE DRAWING TO MUCH CURRENT.

SOURCE: TV turns off anf on
I finally got this problem fixed. I posted on another forum and found that when a bulb starts to go bad it can cause these TVs to do strange things. You can replace the bulb for less than half the cost of replacing the whole housing. See how here: www.geocities.com/bob_lipp

SOURCE: Hitachi 50ux58b
If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.
Here are the symptoms...
Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.
Hope this helps,

SOURCE: TV shutting down
Probable main power supply failure.
In all modern sets, there will be two power supplies; one that keeps the set enough alive to respond to the remote and a second one that does the 'heavy lifting' supplying several regulated voltages for different subsystems.
This latter one has failed.
If you can locate the main supply board, it may be fairly easy to remove to send off to the factory for repair.
