if your solution comes out negative, it will say this because x^2 can never be negative. therefore, your answer is out of the domain of the function and will not register because it isnt a real solution

If a is the name of a PIC, GDB, MAC, FIG, etc., a+1 is invalid. Use a different variable name in the expression or delete the variable.

The chi-square test is used for a lot more than just contingency tables.

I found one program for the TI-86 (which is basically the same machine as the TI-85, only with more memory) which claims to do the chi-square goodness of fit test.
