Memory upgrade for Shuttle MV43V v7.3

My Emachine PC has Shuttle MV43V v7.3 MOB. It has been running with 256mb x2 = 512mb. I have replaced the 256 sticks with 2 x 1GB = 2GB. With the new memory, the PC will not boot up, nor show anything at all on the monitor. The 1gb modules are described as PC2100 DDR 266MHz 184-pin CL2.5 DIMM (A6969AX) Do I need to make changes in BIOS/Setup or change hardware jumper or something to get this to work? Thank you for considering and super thanks if you can lead me to the solution.

SOURCE: 2 x 1GB Samsung PC2100 appearing as just 1GB (2 X 512MB)

Hi Patrick,
I see you're point. I know this, you can not run "more than" 512MB in any DIMM slot. That is shown at the bottom of page 10 & the top of page 11. You can not run both types of memory at the same time, even though the chart looks like you could. The description term on page 10, states; Users only can install either 168-pin SDRAM Module or 184-pin DDR DRAM Module at one time. (You can't run both). You can run 4x512MB in all banks using184-pin DDR SDRAM. Or you can run 4x512MB in all banks of 168-pin SDRAMs. Total of 2GB.
So you can not run 1GB of memory in any bank.

I want to upgrade my RAM on my eMachine t3504. I currently have 256 in each of my 2 slots. Can I upgrade one of the slots to 1 GB and leave the 2nd at 256 or do I have to upgrade both slots?

Yes you can upgrade 1 of the slots to 1GB, as long as 1GB stick of memory is the 256MB stick then you can have both, to check the memory you will have pull them out of the slots and have a look on a little sticker on one side of them. You are looking for i.e DDR400/333/266 if the 1GIG memory matches one of the values mentioned above, say it is a DDR400 and the 256 is a DDR400 then they are compatable if not you will have to just leave the 1GIG stick in by it self in DIMM socket 1.

Adding computer memory

The only thing you could do is put in a 256MB module in the slot that you have access to. Only one socket is user upgradable. The second socket is only upgradable by a Dell service center. They would have to install a second 256 module to get you to the 512MB max.

I want to upgrade my ram what type of ram should i use and how what is the maximum amount of ram i can upgrade to?

Hi,
Memory Upgrade for Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop, the Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop.

How do I upgrade memory on a t1100 emachine from 256mb

Your emachines eMachines T1100 only supports modules made with a specific type of chip. Should you find what seems to be the exact same memory elsewhere for a lower price, it is very possible that the cheaper memory will not work in your computer. From what I see you should use straight PC-133 Try a site like Kahlon.com-they make sure it works with your computer as would kingston or corsair...
Your maximum amount of ram is only 256mb total.
hope this helps...good luck- please leave a rating...thank you kindly

Need to upgrade from Windows ME to Windows XP or Viesta

Yes you can upgrade to windows xp service pack 2/3 without problem. I recommend you update the bios (rompaq) from the revision on the compaq site, and install at least a second
SDRAM 256mb memory module in it first or it will run slow and hang up frequently. I've been running mine on XP for years, still using it now;) (with 384 memory-one 128chip and one 256 chip)
