Fujitsu S6231 Notebook Issues

When I turn on my laptop, the screen is black and I must restart it several times before I get the Windows screen to load. Also, when I try to put my memory card in the memory slot, it does not work. Please give me some insight if you can help out. Thanks in advance =).

Hi Sandrew. Thank you for taking the time to help me out. I was having trouble trying to repair windows and I called Fujitsu and they said that I can only do that if I have the original Windows Xp disk, which I don't. I only have what they provided me when I purchased my laptop. As of now, my laptop is starting up fine and I hope it stays that way. I have no idea why it was acting up for the past few days. On the other hand, for my memory slot, I try to reinstall the driver, but it's not working. When I place my memory card in the slot, I get a message saying that my computer found new hardware called PCMCIA MTD-002. Is it possible that it's because my memory card is 2gb? I don't think it matters because I have been using my 2gb since January and did not have a problem with the slot. Please let me know what you think when you have time. Thank you once again, I really appreciate your help.

I'll have to try that out then. Thanks for the heads up. If that doesn't work, I am probably just going to have my friend reformat my laptop. If that doesn't work either, I guess it's time to retire my two year old laptop. I'll let you know how everything goes.

You may have a corrupt boot.ini file which will prevent windows from finding the boot instructions, so you may have to use your XP cd to repair windows. You will have to press F2 or Del on boot up to enter the cmos and change your cdrom to the first boot device, put in the cd and when it boots up hit enter to boot from cd. Allow the cd to install the installation files, but when prompted instead of pressing enter to install windows, press 'R' to repair instead, at which point your C: drive will be shown, press 'Y' to answer yes to the c drive that needs to be repaired and press enter and allow a system repair, no docs or files will be lost as you are only repairing not formatting and installing. As for the memory slot, you will need to right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager, and look down the list to your card reader and see if there is a yellow exclamation mark, if so you will need to re install the driver, if there is a red cross then right click on it and select enable and try again to read your card.

You can use a friends copy of windows to repair your system as long as you use your own license number which will be on the underside of your notebook, as its the license you pay for not the cdrom.

we may be on crossed wires when it comes to your memory slot, i assumed tyou meant a card reader slot, the pcmcia slot is a different slot unless you have a pcmcia card reader.

Fujitsu s6231 will not power up with 2 new batteries. Works fine on ac adaptor.

Could be a faulty FET driver for the battery. That will be a hardware issue and requires the attention of a competent electronics computerrepairer.

My laptop won't go on properly just has a black screen & keeps rebooting

Sounds like you have the "blue screen of death" , BSOD, problem. You need to determine the error message so it can be fixed.
Restart your computer and hit F8 several times a second until you have a black and white scree with several options. One will be "turn off restart on error" Turn that off.
Now when you get the error you can see what the message is. Post it here for more help.

My mouse is dragging the wrong direction.

I have had problems with this model also, i have found out that that sensor underneath the pad is not so good. You may want to replace it, hopefully it's still under warranty. Quick fix- use a regular or wireless mouse.
