I have an. Hp p3017f3 it has black screen.

p3017f3?????????? what is that, a PSU #?
this HP has both a name and model number clearly stated on the service tag, use that or all answer will be wrong
the model we can work with.

the card smacks of Desktop but MY LAPTOP has one too an
elitebook LT has Video GPU card that comes out.
ILL run with desktop for now (a coin toss that)

PC's made for 36 years, now.
modern DT, PC have PCI-e slot the old PC's and AGP slots.
they can not be mixed, ever.
my wild guess, is pc is black screened,
the motor tests good.
so PC side is bad, and someone told you its a VIDEO card.
so what card is there now? it has name and number too.
if non, and is on board, VGA and its bad.
then yes add a new card, to PCI, slot.
but you never told the model of this PC./

AH you meant say, the MOBO has no VGA card
but does have rear edge MOBO VGA jack sure. (called onboard)
so you want to add one,,, sure.
we are not HP so cant help much.
but the real HP site has service page.
in fact HP will nag for this, until you tell it, 10,000 pc made at HP

https://support.hp.com/us-en/

this is the service tag.
the model is there. MODEL:xxxxxxxxxxx (what is XXXXXXXX)

hp tag-dt-2rdc5vtozdvuqbxau1bo5hq1-1-0.jpg what facts like this parts are easy to buy find and install.
in all cases.(no pun)

HP Pavilion Desktop a6300f Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2180 Desktop, GOT IT FROM FRIEND, HE REMOVED PCI VIDEO CARD, AND TOOK IT WHEN HE MOVED, NO DISPLAY ON ONBOARD, GOT NO PCI VID CARD, NO AGP SLOT,...

that PC MOBO has and on board (MOBO) GPU
Integrated graphics using GeForce 7100

see the 15pin VGA port on the rear, ?
Make sure the chip is there, some versions of PC by HP
do not have the chip, (only searching at HP.com with your full service tag will tell you what version a6300 you have.
If the chip is there, leave the battery alone, 3vdc, ok,?
and go in to BIOS> and change the bit. oops screens dead
(chicken and egg deal)
but if set wrong, and if defaults is external VGA card
then you are in trouble, i for one do no know the defaults of 100000,
HP machines,

the F5 key for BIOS sets BIOS to defaults.
not sure it can be done blindly
here is the bit you cant reach, and now you know why.
no card.
advanced tab.

Why does my desktop is like zoomed but it is on 1024x768???? pls...help

Hi,
What is the brand name, and model of your laptop?
and which OS you use?

To be sure, just go to Device Manager ( Right click: My Computer ) and see if the VGA driver is installed.

Any way, right click the desktop, choose properties ( if windows xp ), ( or : resolution if windows 7 )
move the slider to choose different resolution that fits with you.

Please tell us your results

Video card

I guess u must be aware that your graphic card requires/capable of:
  • Supports Microsoft DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.0 with Shader Model 4.0 for Microsoft Windows Vista or XP
  • 1 dual-link DVI-I, VGA and 1 HDTV outputs; HDCP-capable
The only thing I can suggest is from the BIOS, change the setting of display to PCIE-*****-IGP sequence and then try the video output....sodeep

On my PC, i noticed on the device manager that my video controller (VGA compatible) is not installed. please tell me how to determine my motherboard model so i can download the driver. thank you

That a hard one for you. Open the computer and look for a brand name and model number on the motherboard. If you (it has) have a slot for a graphics card, you may  want to consider buying a graphich card for you computer , as "on board" graphics aee usually not very good anyway.  After you get the name and model, go to the website of that company and download the dribver from there.

Ive just brought my computer and it came with altec lansing serious 100 speakers im not sure how to set them up?

There should be a green color cable (3.5mm in size) coming out of one of the speakers. That cable connects to the green color port in the back of the computer.

If your still having trouble please comment back with the model of the speakers... Altec Lansing Series 100 Model ??? and brand name and model of the computer. If it's not a brand name computer but a generic PC, then the brand name and model of the motherboard.
