Question about Sony DCR-TRV285E Digital-8 Digital Camcorder
I purchased a DCRTRV285E and was told that it could record in PAL but playback NTSC tapes. It doesn't pickup the timecode of most of my old HI8 and 8 mm tapes. My Hi8 and 8mm tape collection is about 15 years old. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
The literature states that the 285E is backwards compatible.

May be your camera not design to play the analog tape...there are some model that can playback a analog tape...i think your camera is for digital playback only.... check your user manual
