ECS Mobo A990FM-A Deluxe will not power up

8 month old mobo A990FM-A + AMD FX8150 CPU suddenly started comming up with B2 error during BIOS boot. According to ECS the fix is by flashing latest BIOS. I made bootable DOS CD including advised BIOS & flash utilities. The board will not power up - is trying to read CD for ever. Also tried bootable USB stick - does not work either. I used FreeDOS on Linux box to make CD/USB. Any one can tell me how to make CD that will work ??? I never used Microsoft, and never had have MS DOS. Can any one make such a CD?? and postmail to me - I cover costs. Please help

The only fix according to ECS is Take MB to authorised service centre. ECS does not support end users. The problem is in that the NVRAM is corrupted i.e. boot sector is corrupted. If you live in country/city where there is no ECS service available do not buy ECS products ..... bummer.

I have bios version 1008 on the computer. Should i update the bios version to the newest one? The fans are always running, they never shut down

Actually if your MOBO are working fine as of now no need to update the BIOS version. Updating BIOS version may affect some parts of MOBO so no need to update the BIOS version.

Installed Intel P4 630 CPU on ECS P4M800-M7 V3.1 mobo. Cannot do POST. The mobo runs fine with Intel Celeron 326 fine.

Hello Mafatbhai, What beeps are you getting at POST?
Here is a list of BIOS beep codes.
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
Well the mobo should not have any problems with the new CPU. Please ensure though that you have removed the CMOS battery to reset it. I have included a link to ECS for your specific board. Download and install all of the available updates starting with the drivers and then the BIOS updates.

Just installed new mobo (ecs 6100sm-m) and boot up issue

from my experience, you will need to format when changing the hardware you have changed. are there files on the drive that you need? if so id recommend putting your old motherboard back in to backup the drive then rebuild and format. thats if it wasnt faulty to start off with.

hope it helps

Just put together A780GM-A MOBO With dual processor amd and used my harddrive from my old system. It comes up to cmos setup, but it won't boot to windows. It comes up with the screen that ask you if you...

That mean you if you put a hardisk into the mobo but you never format the disk along with the mobo you need to do so. you need to format/install win xp/vista on the hard drive so that it can work with the mobo.
So here is the point, if you have a new mobo, whenever you put hardisk on it, you must format the hardisk with win xp/vista.

Bios upgrade

You can use Winflash to upgrade the motherboard BIOS or during boot using text or character driven interface . These utilities can be downloaded free of cost from the mobo manufacturer website. BUT MIND YOU IF YOU DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH OR NOT SURE OF THIS PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AS ANY ERROR IN THE PROCESS OF UPGRADING MOTHERBOARD BIOS WILL RENDER THE THE MOTHERBOARD USELESS. An 8x AGP PRO Card should work without hitches on tis mobo
