Question about Omron HR100C Heart Rate Monitor

Open Question

Chest strap too big

I have the HR 100c Omron heart rate monitor, but the chest strap is too big for me. I tried making a knot, but it is unconfortable, and it still falls. What should I do? do they sell smaller chest straps?

If can't find, do a search for Manufacturer's website and try to get information from some "Contact Us" option. Some even have a phone number.

Irregular reading from heart monitor

The most common reasons for this are poor contact with the chest strap and signal interference.

If you visit my tips and tricks page there is a step by step trouble shooting guide for heart rate monitors.

If you are not using a chest strap, but instead using the hand grips for HR, this is another issue.

Most common with hand grips is gripping too tight or your grip is somehow not making good contact with the handle. handle grips are not as accurate as chest straps as they are more reliant on "how" you grip the sensor. Also moving around your hands while gripping will cause problems.

finally - if all these things are satisfied, you may just have a weak sensor or problem with the maching itself.

How do I enable my EFX 544 to give my heart rate while wearing my polar heart rate chest strap?

If the EFX 544 has polar Heart Rate attach to the upper electronics your chest strap should be transmitting and the unit should be receiving. If your chest strap is more than 3 yrs old usually the battery will die and needs to be replaced or you have a defective receiver and will have to be replaced

My Polar HR monitor ce0537 do not pickup Hart rate

Had the same problem. Just figured it out. The center Polar Logo on the strap needs to touch your chest in a firm way. Bend it back slightly so it fits snug on the middle of your chest.

Inaccurate/intermittent heart rate info?

Here are the things I have noticed that help:
- enough moisture between the HR monitor and your chest. Apply water right before your workout to make sure it isn't all dry between the time you put on your monitor and when you actually started your workout.
- Make sure the strap is tight enough. Mine gets loose over time and the bouncing of running will give me inaccurate readings until I tighten it up again. You can test if this is the problem by using your hands to press the monitor more tightly against your chest - if that seems to fix the problem that a loose strap could be it.
- Use a "conductive gel" instead of water between the monitor and your chest. Conductive gels are pretty cheap.
