Question about Siemens Gigaset Se567 54 Mbps 4-port 10/100 Wireless Router se567
Roku has worked for 6 months...now will not connect to internet...roku support says"contact vendor and assign the dsn numbers" 188.8.131.52 or 184.108.40.206 please help me
Unfortunately that model of modem does not support assigning DNS.
Call 18009218104 option 2. This will get you tech support. Ask for a new modem. They should give you a Netgear 7550 for no extra charge. If they want to send you to another department tell them that there is no need for that and to ask their supervisor how to send up a modem upgrade order. It may take a day or two for you to receive the new modem. Once you have the new modem and it is fully set up you can assign the DNS by followiing these steps.
Browse to 192.168.254.254
Log in with username: admin and the password you set when configuring the modem (If the modem is configured by Frontier then the password will be also be admin like the username.)
Click My Connected Home at the top
Click Network Connections on the left
Click the Action button next to Broadband Connection (DSL)
Under the VCs sections Click the edit button to the right of where it says PPPoE or PPPoA.
Here you will find a spot for DNS Primary and for DNS Secondary
Enter the numbers given to you by Roku in these to spots.
And you are done.
If you have any issues with following these steps just call 18009218104 Option 2. This will get you Frontier tech support. Ask them to show you were to assign DNS servers for the PPPoE connection in the modem's firmware. They will guide you through it.
If they claim they cant help you with that it probably just means they dont know how. There are definitely people there who do know how and can help you further. Tell them to ask someone else there.
