Glass top broke, can it be fixed

Probably cheaper to replace whole oven try insurance if u have its an accident so insurance may pay if u have.

I depends on how old your oven is. If you're lucky you may be able to get a replacement glass. If not take some measurements and see a glass supplier. You will need a piece of tempered glass.

The door glass can be replaced.
I would advise you not to use the oven until you get the glass replaced, as it can quite suddenly and without warning shatter into small pieces. thus causing further problems, and possibly injury.

It is not a fault with the door, and this sort of event occurs quite often, so is not uncommon.
All sorts of things can cause this, sudden change in temp, getting the glass wet whilst it is still hot, a knock or bang form an earlier time could have weakened the glass.
The list is quite long..
Depending on your household insurance, some policys cover for breakage of glass fittings, would be worth checking.

the rep is right as of yet there is no recalls on this problem and yes they are tempered but in my many travels I hve only seen two do this once you have the glass replaced this will take care of the problem also if you use a oven cleaner that is not made for self cleaning ovens and get even a drop on the glass it will shatter

contact GE; they should have replacement glass in stock.
