I need an antenna for RCA RP7664A portable radio. What kind should I look for?

There are 4 things you need to look at for the replacement, the two most important details are how the antenna is attached inside the radio, and the second is the outside diameter of the antenna. The other two details are the collapsed length and extended length. You will need to open the radio to see what attachment method is used, usually a small screw through a hole through the base at the end of the antenna. There will also be a wire attached with the screw (usually), that connects to antenna to the radio circuits. Carefully remove the broken antenna from the radio, then you can note the attachment method, and measure the outside diameter, and the collapsed length.

Grounding uhf antenna

First off, using a Ground post driven into the soil is important. The best ground post procedure is to SLANT a 6 or 8 foot rod into the soil at an angle (not directly down). The angle allows for a greater ground surface and is more effective. If a Ground rod is cut off because it cannot be driven deep into the soil; this defeats the need to ground electronic or other devices.
12G wire is OK for an antenna if 8 or 10 are not available. Copper is best, but aluminum will work. The Grounding bock is attached to the mast, usually near where the antenna if affixed to the mast. Simply drill a small hole into the Mast section using the block as your guide. Using a hex driver and small hex screws, tighten the block to the mast. Good contact is necessary, so tighten all attachments. I suggest getting Rubber Boots or Covers to protect the connectors on the block from corrosion. The reason I attach blocks to the mast is to ground the Mast first and Antenna second. Not a critical feature. You may also use petro-jelly to cover the nuts, bolts, and screws to prevent corrosion or binding.

Need to replace radio antenna on a 99 isuzu rodeo

I just replaced the antenna on our 02 rodeo. No need to remove radio or anything in dash. This is how I did it.
First you will need access to back of fender, enough room for your hand. Open hood and remove 3 bolts running along top of fender, open passenger door and remove top bolt holding fender. Gently pry top of fender away from vehicle. Place object in gap to hold fender ( I used the head of a rubber mallet). Reach inside fender and disconnect old antenna, follow cable through wall into passenger compartment. Gently pull cable from behind carpet and unplug old antenna from coupler. Connect new antenna to fender ( replacement antenna I ordered was slightly smaller than opening so I had to add washer). Run new antenna cable through wall and plug into coupler. Re-attach fender

The hood latch cable broke under the hood how can i open it

Saturn Vue hood release can be opened (if the cable is not broken) by disconnecting the cable from the back of the release lever, grabbing the ball on the end of the cable with some large pliers ("channel locks") and pulling hard. A metal "wire keeper" bracket clamped to the cable end under the hood to serve as a spacer and the release lever works.
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide a procedure for opening the hood on the Saturn VUE and ION vehicles should the hood latch release cable mechanism become inoperative.

VUE Hood Opening Procedure Modify the Saturn radio antenna by bending the antenna mast 1 in. (2.54 cm) above the antenna base to a 25 degree angle

Open hood of similar vehicle to locate hood latch release cable to hood latch attachment point.

Using modified antenna, note approximate location that antenna will have to enter in between fascia and hood to access the hood latch cable attachment point. This should be toward the left edge of the Saturn emblem. Also note position of the modified antenna base. It should be angled downward.

Note: Use protective tape on the hood and fascia where the antenna will be inserted to protect the surfaces from scratches
On vehicle with inoperative latch, insert antenna between hood and fascia and depress the hood latch cable until the hood is opened.

Good luck and thank you for using fixya

Screen won't turn on

Your ribbon cable is out of the connector when it was dropped. Open your garmin becarefull!!!! and read first the information below!!!! Flip up your antenna, at the very top you will see two screws, (These are T-5 Torx) remove them. Next be very careful when you open the top cover! The ribbon cable for the antenna comes through the bottom corner (I think it is on the right looking at the unit.) Next focus on the left bottom corner, there is a black barrel that holds the antenna to the unit and also provides the clicking steps you get when positioning the antenna. There should be a **** for a screw driver inboard about 3MM Put your screw driver there and pull to the right. Now you can lift the antenna box free. (NOT THE ENTIRE UNIT, THE RIBBON CABLE IS STILL ATTACHED.) Now at the top of the unit you will see two more T-5's under the antenna pivot area. You should be able to pry the unit open once these are removed. Still you must be careful the touch panel, speaker cable, power cable and one more cable is still attached. That one more cable you will see right away, it is red and black and you can remove it and fold the two halves over with the others still attached. After removing the final three which are all ribbon cables. Also don't forget the antenna calbe which once removed can be pulled through the half of the unit it is attached to. After seperating the halves you have the touch screen removed. You have one more phillips screw which removes the "motherboard so to speak." Hope this helps you peace. Put the ribbon cable back in the connector there is a black "lock" what proberly hold the ribbon on it's place. Lift the black lock and put the ribbon cable in the connector the same for the small one next to it.

Procedures to install cb antennae mount

The end without a connector was once attached to an antenna. You need a proper antenna in order to use the radio. If you were to buy a new antenna, it will come with a length of cable attached. Even if you were to buy a new antenna, don't expect good performance from the radio unless you get the antenna properly adjusted. Yes, it will work "out of the box", but probably not as good as it could. There is a device called an SWR bridge, it's used to measure the SWR and the user then adjusts the antenna for the lowest reading by trial and error adjustment of the antenna.

Hi:
It can be easyto open. There is a couple of nuts behind the antenna, you have to remove them, then you need to remove the antenna, in order to do this you need to find a pin in the base of the antenna, and slide it to the center, and this free your antenna, then you can reach a couple a nuts located under the antenna, remove them and then you will be free to open your nuvi. I did this cause my power button was broken, I resolded and now is working pretty fine. the picture is my nuvi 350 opened.b67f991.jpg

How do you open a nuvi 660

The ribbon cables are clameped in place. The look like they would slide out from the connector if you pulled then hard enough,... you do NOT want to do that. The black portion of the connector is actually a hinged clamp. With the unit lying on a table, face up as it you were using it; lift the top screen half away for the bottom half and tilt it toward yourself. You should see the ribbon cable and the red & blk wires. For the wide center connector and the one on the right, the black piece hinges up an away from you (towards the top). Try the one on the right first. When you flip it up, the ribbon will pretty much fall out. Pry the wide center one on the ends, NOT in the center. The narrow one on the left tilts donw towrds you. For the antenna, the hinged peice is brown, and it flips up towards the right. This one does not just fall out. It needs some gentle wiggeling. Also, I was able to use a T6 torx, T5 seemed a little loose,... yo don't want to strip any screws or you'll be screwed. SpaceVector
