Question about Bernina Activa 140

1 Answer

430 aurora I have an Aurora 430. When I try to sew something thick - a basket made with 1/4 inch clothesline - it beeps when I press the pedal and will not sew. I had the same problem with thick potholders. Changing the presser foot pressure from lowest to highest did not help. No problem sewing this with my Bernina Virtuosa 153.

Probably too thick to feed without dislodging the bobbin case, causing the error message.

The problem is with either the upper or lower thread sensor. Could be either one has some lint or grime blocking it. If your machine is new the dealership tech should be taking care of this for you no charge. There are firmware updates that need to be installed on your machine that will narrow down the alert to either the upper or lower sensor. Its possible its just lint or dirt blocking it. The lower sensor is that black thing on the inside of the bobbincase door. Use a q-tip there. The upper sensor is a bit more difficult so just try blowing out up under where the tension spring is threaded. Also there may be a problem with the cable having gotten pinched or a plug has come loose. The sensors on these can go bad and need replacing, usually this is a warrenty item at no cost.
Be sure to get the new firmware updates installed and bring your BSR for its updates as well.

Hi, possibly your feedogs are dropped and in the darning position and/or its thinking you want to embroider and there is NO hoop attached or entire embroidery unit plugged in. Check your feedog button below the handwheel on the bottom.

SOURCE: I was sewing and the foot pedal stopped working.

Take your machine in to a Bernina dealer for service. It could be you need a new foot pedal, or if could be something else.

SOURCE: How do I service/oil my virtuosa 153

You can only oil the moving parts that you can see unless you want to take the machine apart which I do not recommend.

Bernina Aurora 430 sewing machine that the sewing light and the display went out on at the same time. I assume the problems are related but not sure. Was told that the main circuit board was the problem...

That's probably true if there's not a fuse or circuit breaker on the machine. Alas, if anyone but a repair shop opens the case, you've voided the warranty, so I'd look hard for a circuit breaker on the machine and then if that's unsuccessful, drag it in for repair. With luck, it's a loose board.

I get an electrical tingle from metalwork on Bernina Aurora 430. They say this is common and not a problem. That doesn't sound like a good answer!

It's NOT a good answer!! Sounds to me like you have an short in the wiring. Unplug the machine and check all the wiring connections. Replace any frayed wires and make sure the connections are solid.

Good luck!

New machine.....sewed fine yesterday. When I turn

The motor running noise is because your bobbinwinder is on. Flip the bobbinwinder to the right.

I was sewing some thick material and now I get 3 sets of 3 beeps, now when you press the foot pedal nothing happens

You probably need to clean out the bobbin case area and then check your needle to see if it's bent. I know when I sew very thick fabric or many layers... it sometimes bends the needle. Also make sure you're putting the presser foot down when you sew. Then see what happens. Let me know if any of this works or if you've already resolved your problem.

If you took the door off check and make sure the lower thread sensor on the door is snapped on correctly. Many times it gets put on beneith the bar rather than over it.
