Question about KitchenAid Architect II Series KBRS19KT 18.5 cu. ft. 30" Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with 2

Black spots in ice for brand new installation

I installed the recommended Whirlpool icemaker into my KitchenAid fridge, carefully running water through the copper line before attaching it, through the plastic line and feed tube before installing it, and rinsing out the icemaker cube molds before installing the ice maker. For two days now I get black spots on the rounded surface of some ice cubes. I'm tempted to remove the ice maker, connect an AC power source to the water valve, and let the water flow directly into the ice cube tray to see if the black specs are originating in the water system. Is this a brilliant or crazy idea?

Crazy...

I would pat myself on the back a couple more days... and let the whole fringe get better (settle & wash out).

Just an errant thought...but if you have a water filter on your water supply I'm thinking I would rather know WHAT those spots were...

I'm thinking CHARCOAL (meaningless/harmless).
No FILTER = IRON OXIDE...
Means you have an advanced case of copper directly connected to steel pipe causing ELECTROLYSIS...
Find it fast or make sure your insurance is up to snuff.

I would capture a sample and test with a magnet

Some manufacturers suggest you toss the first load of cubes and go for it...

I think you are smart to watch what you ingest.

SOURCE: ice cubes from ice maker are dirty black dirt

Hello,

If the ice cubes are discolored or have a bad taste, you need to pay attention to your ice maker dispenser bin. Shut off your ice maker and take a close look at the tray or the dispenser bin. Check if the protective coating has been damaged or not. Use a damp cloth to wipe off any dirt. Keeping your fridge clean will also help as sometimes food odor can be responsible for the bad smell or taste of the ice.

Take care.

Why doesn't our new icemaker in a whirlpool ed5 fridge work?

Make sure water line valve is turned on where it taps in to water line, and that ice shut off is down not up, check to see if water is in ice tray or if it is dry if no water or ice is present then water is not getting to it if water tap valve is open then water valve in ice maker is off or ice shut off arm is up instead of down. Try pouring warm water in ice tray see if that will get it started.

Ice maker not producing any ice.

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . Squeeze the black fill tub which is above the icemaker cup . If ice apears to be in it , this indicates that the weter valve is not completely closing , letting a drip ocasionally go thru and freezing inside the tube , ( water valve bad ) . that will be a different solution . If the icemaker dumps the cubes after freezing . and black tube is not frozen , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker does not dump the ice after frozen , replace the icemaker ( only 1 screw holds the icemaker in , located on rear portion on right , faceing down . Also check the icemaker rake , which should be about the 2:30 position . To thaw out the black tube (which runs thru the top of the refrig ) a 1/4 push on connector will be needed . Remove the icemaker and use a hairdryer aimed up into the hole . Cut the tubing to the fill tub behind the fridge about 9 inches from where it enters the top of the fridge . This will let warm air inside the top fill line to help thaw . Ocassionally blow thru the 9 inch tube until you can blow thru it . May take a day or 2 , depending how frozen the line is . Once air will go thru , install the push on connector to couple the cut lines back togather .

The blinking red light on the right side , is the receiver for the electric eye for cutting off the icemaker when the door bin is full , This blinking is normal . 2 blinks ...pause...2 blinks..etc .

Do not replace the filter if water flow is good thru the dispensor .

Whirpool fridge won't make ice

a loss of water supply to the refrig could cause this problem. check the fill tube that supplies water to the icemaker (this is the tube that omes into the rear of the icemaker) i think you will find it is frozen up. you can clear this out wiht a hair dryer. I just looked at a diagram for the model number you provided and the fill tube is the black tube that comes into the fill cup on the far right hand side of the icemaker. you will have to raise the icemaker door to see it. but heating this and clearing the ice will fix it thanks peyton

Kitchenaid Icemaker does nothing. Ref. Mod.kscs25Inssoo

This also happened after I changed the water filter. The small black rubber tube that fills the tray was plugged with ice. Instead of hot wash cloths I used a hair drier for a couple of minutes.

Kitchenaid superba icemaker leaking/freezing in freezer section

Your water hose that connects to the back of the freezer may be loose. Move the fridge out away and in the back make sure it is tightend.

Let me know if it helped :)
