Laptop screen upside down

After using a cd rom my laptop screen has turned upside down this happened a few years ago and fixed it in the end but can't remember how. Ctrl alt and arrows don't work or ctrl alt r. There is no rotation option in the graphic's properties so cant change it that way. Any other suggestions? Thanks a million - have been trying all day.

Nope. Hold the CTRL key and the ALT key down, and at the SAME time tap on the Up arrow key. That\'s about it

SOURCE: Laptop will not come on

Although other possibilities can be at fault, if it does so little after power on, the CPU itself may have failed. The very first actions a PC does when turned on is to read the information stored in the CMOS to determine what hardware is on board. After doing this, it turns to the hard drive for a check to see if it is readable and then the CPU (your microprocessor) Intel or AMD takes command. If the hard drive is at fault, a message will inform you that the hard drive either cannot be found or is unreadable. If the hard drive light flashes once, then the BIOS  has made contact and then the hand-off to the CPU begins. If it is stopping dead at that point, the CPU is the prime suspect.
What fairly often happens is first a failure of the CPU fan that sits directly on the heatsink that transfers the heat from the CPU and then the heatsink is bathed in air from the fan. If the fan has failed (all too common) or is impeded by a dust accumulation, the CPU overheats and if the maker has not made any provisions to shut down the CPU, it dies.
There is a possibility that this kind of problem can be caused by a failure of the RAM (memory) but establishing what has failed is only possible through substitution of one or both of those devices.
If you are somewhat skilled, opening a laptop requires small Phillips screwdrivers to remove case screws from the side(s) and bottom, then the case still (in most cases) needs to be carefully pried open. The mating halves normally snap together as well as being fastened with said screws.
Most likely the keyboard will also have to be freed from a couple of screws and, depending on the length of the flat cable connecting it to the system board, can be pulled forward before or after the cable is pulled.
The CPU will be easy to spot; it's one of the large clumps on the board. Check its fan to see if the blade turns freely and is not impeded by dust (these things have hardly any torque), then with two fingers, positioned on either side of the blade, check to see if it rocks side to side. This would be an indication that the bearings have failed and it will need to be replaced.    The CPU is held by clips but make sure you have no static charge before removing any internal part. Just 'equalize' the charge by touching an exposed metal cover or other chassis part. Memory is normally accessible from the bottom of the case.
Now comes the bad news; there are still myriad other components that can keep a PC from booting when no error message is present since there are numerous support functions which can interfere with the startup of system. I've given you the most likely points of failure; CPU or memory.

SOURCE: TOSHIBA A135-S2386- I HAVE AN ERROR WHEN TURNING ON MY LAPTOP

You most likely have a faulty hard drive, especially if it is making a clicking sound.
You wil need to purchase a new hard drive and install Windows again with the Toshiba Recovery CD.

Hi,
Usually in disk read errors are because of bad HDD.
So get it checked by the service center so that the issue could be fixed.

Hello, I had a few problems back about a year ago with my HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop, after a few weeks of looking for solutions I finally gave up looking and trying stuff. I see that there is more...

Hi, welcome to FixYa!

I also had this problem in my Toshiba A215. Does your HP Pavilion Dv2000 use AMD processor (and chipset) too? If that so, indeed this problem is caused by AMD southbridge chipset which often failed to load up all power before the BIOS is ready, that's why we get black screen not even BIOS is shown up. I noticed this some time happened when I restarted (or shut down) my laptop with 1 or more usb devices was still plugged into my laptop.

Second problem is definitely caused by the heat of the laptop. Yes, the heat can cause some problem the wireless device inside. This is often happened to with my Toshiba A215, especially when I had play game for a long time then suddenly my wireless (Realtek 8187B) was gone in my Device manager. Reinstalling driver didn't fix this, even restarting laptop also. All I can do is wait until the laptop become a lot cooler then it is working again.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa!

I forgot the pssword of my laptop

Need a external CD ROM...
1. Download and burn Ophcrack (freeware).
2. Burn ISO file to a disk.
3. Attach external CD ROM to S10 computer
4. Load the disk with the ISO file in the external CD ROM
5. Turn the S10 on and tap F12 a few times on the Lenovo Screen.
6. Select Boot using CD/DVD ROM
7. Wait for the program to completely load until it shows you a picture with your password on it.c57d3af.jpg

If this solution does not work,
1. Turn off your computer (no flashing lights)
2. Press the Lenovo Care Button (aka One Key Recovery, button with an upside down arrow on it)
3. Select System Recovery.
4. Recovery from factory default settings.

How to fix my cd-dvd rom,its not working?

Hello,

Shut down your system, turn it upside down, loose the screw(s) that holds the Rom to the system, detach the Rom from the system and turn the system back on without the Rom.

Allow the system to boot and after a while shut it down again. Then fix back the Rom to the system, screw it and put on the system.

Test the Rom and if it still does not work, use cotton board to clean the lens. If after all these and your Rom does not still work, then I think you need to get another Rom.

Best wishes.

I dropped my laptop and now the screen is messed up.

Ack. Sounds like you might need to replace your screen (sounds pricey but is cheaper than a new laptop). You can find second hand/refurbished screens or another Aspire with a working screen being sold for parts on Ebay or here

On a side note, if you a have a PC monitor lying around, you can access your files by hooking it up to your laptop via the dvi slot. Granted, it seems a bit ghetto but its a quick fix until you get something more permanent.

I recently broke my iPhone screen and completely shattered a dell laptop a few years ago. You know all those people who are adamant about you buying proper carrying/protective cases? Screw 'em.

How Can I Fix My Laptop DVD/CD Player? It's Not Working Right Anymore

Provide a CD/DVD cleaner disc and clean it maybe it help;
I encoutered that problem 3 months ago, the DVD ROM recognized only few DVD disc, other DVD's won't even the windows is freshly installed. The laptop was return back to the store they replace it.

However, in your case; it work fine before so maybe i suggest you to clean your DVD rom using the cleaner, if not work then , scan your computer with a potent antivirus, if this not work also, maybe i recommend to format and reinstall the system,

If all of those are not working maybe its time for you to enjoy the warranty of your laptop if the laptop has a warranty. hope this help.

Can't turn it off

hi, ok you only have a few options
hold the power button in for about 10seconds should turn it off.
if it dont then you can remove the battery from the laptop by turning it upside down and theres a slide button to remove it. if you use the laptop on the mains without the battery, all you need to do is pull out the mains cable and it will go off.
to fix problem, go into safe mode, click run, type msconfig. click start up on top right, and untick anything that you dont need loading on startup (if you disable the wrong one it wont do any damage, as long as u only untick ones in that start up group.

Have a nice new year
