SOURCE: heater not working
The problem is probably the blower motor resistor. I'm not sure where yours is located exactly. They can be on the firewall under the hood or some are near the blower motor under the dash.

hi you probely have a draging blower motor. if it pulling more than 25 amps replace it and check akk wirring connectors for burn or hot spots. good luck

check the blower motor relay, located under the hood fuse/relay box. turn the system on and tap the blower motor see it works. The blower motor located under the glove box.

I would venture to say that it sure sounds like you are loosing the blower motor. Brushes wear and it makes it draw more amperage, this is why changing the resistor worked short term only. Not exactly what you want to hear but thats what does happen to them.
