Question about Clarion (NAVSIR) SIRIUS Radio Receiver
Had some car work done recently where they disconnected the battery. Now my Clarion Sirius receiver only gets a small subset of my subscribed channels. When manually trying to tune a Sirius channel I get an "Invalid Message" error on the Clarion display. Some channels come in fine, however. I called Sirius and they sent the updated subscription message... They told me to tune to channel 184 but that is one of the "Invalid Channels". The receiver reverts back to one of the channels that it does receive. Any help in troubleshooting is much appreciated. Thanks.
My DX445 does the same thing. Here's my method for fixing it, it should work for any similar Clarion receiver:
1. If possible, make sure the radio is turned off when disconnecting the battery. If the radio turns itself on when the vehicle is restarted (for example after jump starting or battery disconnect for a few seconds only), turn the radio off.
2. Disconnect the battery by removing the negative battery cable from the battery. Leave it disconnected.
NOTE: Car batteries can be dangerous things. If you're unsure how to do this safely, get an experiences mechanic to help you.
3. Reset the radio. On my radio this is done by removing the faceplated, and pressing a tiny button for 30 seconds. Your radio may be different.
4. After waiting at least 20 minutes, reconnect the battery.
5. My radio displayes 'System Check -- Press Power'. After pressing the power button, the display reverts to the clock.
6. Turn on the radio. It should work fine on the broadcast bands.
7. Select 'Sirius'. The radio should display 'Updating'. Don't touch anything until the radio finishes its update phase. When it's done, it should tune to Sirius channel 1 and play as normal.
8. This should restore normal tuning. reset your presets and preferences.
What seems to happen is that the radio gets stuck in a 'Category Select' condition, but not all the categories will load, and manual tuning will not allow, say, Radio Classics to play when the radio is stuck in Pop mode.
On occasion (maybe 1 time out of 10), the radio hangs while doing the 'updating' in Sirius mode. If this happens, just shut off the radio and start over. I've never had to do the brute force reset more than twice since I stumbled on this method.

I had the same problem with my Mazda CX-9. It was in the garage for an extended period. When my wife first drove it, the channels tried to reload, but not all of them were available. I could not get 184, and some of the news and weather channels. I called Serius, and they could not fix the problem. They said it was probably my antenna. I read this thread and disconnected my battery. I had to leave it disconnected for about 10 minutes for it to reset. It came back up on channel 184 and reset all of the channels. Thanks.

Thank you so much for posting these comments. I had the same problem and was able to rectify it based off this page. I took my truck to a dealer and had some work done. They obviously disconnected my battery while in their big metal shop...once, re-enabled, it looks like Sirius went to update and was not able to get a good signal. I kept getting "Invalid Channel" for every channel.I called Sirius, resent the signal, etc. Nothing was working. They didn't know the solution. Tuning to 184 for an update was not working either. Low and behold I found this page...I pulled the radio fuse for my Clarion, while parked outside, and reinitialized....It worked!!
I was so mad dealing with this issue, that had I not found this page, I was ready to go buy another deck to put in the truck...this saved me some cashola!

I had the same problem with my Clarion Sirius receiver. I found that simply pulling the radio fuse instead of disconnecting the battery worked great. Thought this might be easier for some to do. I was receiving no (0) channels. I pulled the fuse. Put the car in accessory power to make sure the deck wouldn't power up. Waited a few minute and replaced the fuse. The radio performed the full update and all is well!

Disconnected my battery last weekend while doing some mechanical repairs in the driveway. I have a clarion DX545MP head unit and CL1 tuner. I'm so glad you guys put this up here because I just got off the phone with Sirius and after resending the init signal 2x, they said it was a problem with my Clarion headunit and referred me to their support dept. I'll try to repeat the disconnect again and hope for the best. Like I said, I was in the driveway with a clear shot to the sky but I turned the car on and off again (testing) and not paid attention to the radio updating and turned it off before it fully completed it's programming. I'll post back tomorrow.

I have had the same issue with both a CMD4 Clarion Marine Radio and a VRX745 Clarion Head Unit in my vehicle. For the head unit in my vehicle, there is a reset button that does NOT work to update the receiver with missing Sirius channels (but it will look like its doing it). Using info from this site, I disconnected the positive battery terminal, waited a few minutes, then reconnected the battery. Went into vehicle, turned on VRX745 head unit and it walked me through set up. This time it actually performed an update and I got all my channels back.
For the CMD4, I did not try the battery disconnect because I wasn't aware it might work. What I did was manually scan by category. It's a pain, but if you go to a "pop" channel and tell it to scan (don't remember exactly how, but you'll find it) it will scan for all channels that fall under the "pop" category. It will skip over all other categories, so hopefully you have a "valid" channel in each of the categories. I then tuned to a "country" category channel and scanned, then a "entertainment" category, and so on. Got most of the channels back that way.

I am having the same problem, i was able to manually get about 37 channels by holding down the BND button which changed the mode to manual tuning which allowed me to manually move to individual stations. By going bak and forth I was able to add more stations, but once I got to channel 38 (which is not a used channel) I could not add more channels. I don't know if this will help you get a few more channels. I am going to try to call clarion to see if they can help, if you get it fixed, please post what you did. Thanks and hopefully we can get this fixed
