Wii Microphone My husband and I bought a Wii and Rock Band last night. The microphone does not seem to be detected. I can play the drums and guitar fine, but we really got it for singing! I was wondering if it is faulty or am I just missing something. We have tried plugging it into the 3port Hub, and also straight into the Wii... what else can we try before turning it back in? We bought it used, but our friends we got it from say they never had any problems and it plugged straight into the Wii. I have been looking on Forums, it doesnt seem to be detected by my laptop either when I plugged it in. I don't have a controller, maybe that is the solution, I have only been trying our Wii-motes. PLESSE HELP ME! I was so excited and now I am getting quite discouraged! Thanks! My name is Amanda.

My microphone wont work it says its not connected but there is no red button on the microphone just on the wii sync button....is this a default?

I have no little red button on the microphone, but my system is RockBnd 2. Any suggestions? We have tried connecting Mic to all different ports on back of Wii as well as white box with guitar on it. The systems says there is no Mic located and to plug into USB port.

You might need to sync the microphone up to the Wii. What you do is you press a little RED button on the Microphone and then press the RED button on the Wii. That is located on the front in a small door under the CD slot.

My rock band game thinks my rock band 3 fender mustang pro-guitar is a microphone how do i change that ?

Have you tried reassigning the guitar to another controller port, one that's not linked to the microphone? Or are you using a different dongle with the guitar than what came with it?

Do I need more than one Wii remote for Band hero Wii????

you need a wii remote for each instrument and the microphone. you need one remote for the drums, one for the bass guitar player, one for the guitar, and one in close proximity to the microphone user. you have to set a wii remote near the microphone once the microphone is plugged into the USB port in the back of the wii console. i think there is something like a 10 foot radius meaning if the wii remote is too far from the microphone it will disconnect. so you can do only one instrument per wii remote you are using.

Rock Band controllers only let me be the microphone/leader, ???

Wiimotes are for vocalists only (because the microphone doesn't have its own buttons). Navigate the menus with the guitar or drums to use them in-game.

Rockband TrackPack

Unfortunately, the guitar that comes with the Guitar Hero does not work with Rock Band or Rock Band 2. Rock Band, as you mentioned, recognizes the Wiimote as the controller for the microphone.

Unfortunately, you will have to get a guitar that is specifically designed for Rock Band.

I know this isn't the answer that is popular, but if you vote for my solution, please vote at least "Thanks for Trying".

Wii always detects microphone and wont let us play the guitars

Try using the guitar from the main page on to navigate through the menus (ie: using the red/blue/green/yellow buttons to select, etc). If you use the Wiimote, it will think you are using vocals, thus requiring a mic.

Playing Rock Band 2 without a microphone

you have to use the green and red keys on the guitar to navigate the software...not the WII remote if you want to use the guitar.. THe WII remote is ONLY used for the Microphone.

On the drums you use the red and Green drum to navigate for the drum...not the WII remote....

I got my daughter Wii Rockband-she is so mad and me to because we can't figure out how to let her play it-like play the guitar without the microphone-everytime she tries to play it, it says it doesn't...

Rock Band is a 4 player game, each player taking their own role. They can choose from Guitar, Bass, Drums or Microphone. If your daughter wants to play guitar and sing at the same time, she will need to play a multiplayer game and use 2 Mii profiles, one for guitar and one for singing.
A single player cannot play 2 instruments using the same Mii either. You must use separate profiles.

Play rock band for wii without mic, drums and guitar only?

Don't use the controller to navigate, that's the vocalist's controls. Go in and out of menus with the instrument you intend on using, don't use the controller.
