Question about Washing Machines
My machine goes through the wash cycle but wont go into the drain or spin cycle. It just stops. What is the problem and how can I fix it??
Sounds like the problem may be a blocked pump. First , check there is no debris in the drain hose( easy to take off rear bottom of machine. If clear ,check the pump where drain hose was attached and see if the little fan moves freely with your fingers( impellor). This part may have something wound around it or may be jammed by a blockage of some kind. This is pretty simple to do and if there is still no movement of the impellor ,a new pump may be necessary.

The symptoms you describe are typical of a broken lid switch. The lid switch is located under the washer top on the right hand side. It is activated through a slot by a small plastic piece on the lid called a "lid strike". Make sure the lid strike is still installed and not broken. Make sure the lid switch itself is not loose, as well. There are two mounting screws along the washer tub opening that hold it in place. If the screws become loose the switch will not make contact with the lid strike when the lid is closed. If you need to replace the switch or lid strike, the parts are available at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Washer Top and Lid" heading on the next page. The lid switch is listed as item number 22 (part #3355806) and the lid strike is listed as item number 16 (part #358684). Both parts combined will cost you about $30. If you have further questions and/or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: washer won't spin
press in clips each corner with putty knife and lift top remove screws bottom front panel slide panel down and off ..locate pump. turn washer to spin and switch on if faint hum felt at pump more than likely plugged with something if pump is running fine ck for something in drain lines..most washers i would say lid switch but on those i believe if switch was bad wouldn't aditate either ck by raising lid ..if agitates with lid raised ck lid switch if not switch ok

more than likely the pump needs replacing, first of all remove the outlet drain hose from the the place it discharges and lower it into a bucket, this should allow it to syphon away, you may need to empyt the bucket a few times once the machine is empty you should be able to put it on its spin cycle once it has spun locate and remove the filter to remove any objects or lint, fill machine with warm water and try to drain and spin via the programme,if this do not work fit a new pump
