Question about Brother CS-8072 Computerized Sewing Machine
I have a Brother cs-8072 machine. I've never had a problem with it. I was sewing some curtains, and broke a needle. I've replaced the needle, but it won't catch the bobbin. The needle goes up and down just fine, but for some reason, it won't catch the bobbin, so it won't sew. Any sigestions would be helpful. I'd rather not have to take it in to be fixed if I can help it. I've had it for about 4 years. It was bunching the thread up under the presure foot. The needle was cutting through some of the bobbin thread. I'd stop and take it out, and take the bad thread off of the bobbin, and it would work fine again. I don't use my machine a lot. thanks going Nuts
I had the exact same problem as sewing75 - I tried and tried to work on it but nothing. FInally took it in and was told that the bobbin shuttle/holder (the metal part that doesn't come out) jumped it's timing teeth - probably when the fabric got all jammed in it - he's going to have to take the whole thing apart and reset it - I thought this might be the case since when I was looking at where the needle was going down, it didn't seem like it was in the right place with the bobbin shuttle. Anyway, hope that helps - you'll probably need to take it in. Cost me $80 for repair.

I hope to God nobody else pays more for a repair than the machine is worth.
It's ridiculous to spend $300 for that repair since the machine is available almost everywhere for way under $200. You could have thrown that one in the trash and bought a new one cheaper than the repair!!
I paid $129 for mine, had the same problem with two, yes, two of them, and sent them back and was sent another which so far is working fine. There seems to be a flaw in the engineering of that machine since so many people are experiencing the same problem. The machines DO have a warranty so please, please, be careful of unscrupulous repair people. Oh, I'm sorry but I need to mention that I bought my machine from eBay and it was a refurbished machine sold by Ken Sewing and Vacumm in Muscle Shoals, Al. They stand behind their products and were very nice to deal with, they even paid for the return shipping on the two that I returned. Hope this helps y'all.
