It's probably bad capacitors on the power supply board. These monitors are notorious for having the electrolytic capacitors blow out; cheap components! I would suggest replacing the two 1000 mfd capacitors and the three 220 mfd capacitors with 35 volt components from Radio Shack. That fixed one of my LCM-19V7s but not a second one which seems to have some other power supply problem.

don't need to update cuz it's not recommend to do that if it's not broken!!!!!turn on ur computer in mode safe wih network then try to recovering disk procedure(use the help menu or or the manual of ur pc) to ask to the system to restart the system few days or more before the updates cuz whan u allow automatically updates,it happens sometimes that the system becomes instable.when u will do this recovering procedure go and change this setting!!!!There is a condition for recover the system but i use windw and i don't know anything wit mac.DON'T update the firmware cuz u will have more problems if the system doesn't recognize components of ur computer and u will change them and u don't really need to do that!!!!just try it,be patient and stay calm, it happens to me and if i solved that, u can do that to.

refer to an earlier post about similar problems. Does it power up and then shut itself off. this is possibly due to two defective capacitors. 27 cents on line $1.50 at radio shack. They will be puffy on top. I am a complete novice to soldering a capacitor onto a board. but since I was junking the monitor otherwise I gave it a try. It's still working after sitting idle a year. Handy advice on soldering online. use copper wire to **** up the old solder and try not to fry the capacitors or the board. If I did it anyone can.
