Question about Vacuums

Eureka Endeavor NLS loss of suction/brush won't spin

Shortly after I got this vacuum, it stopped working as well as it used to. It hardly vacuums up anything and the brushes won't spin. I have a long-haired dog so I have already gotten in there with a pair of scissors to clip out all the hair tangled around the brush, but even after that this vacuum is difficult to push and won't pick up anything. Anybody have this problem? Any recommendations for a new inexpensive vacuum?

SOURCE: How to for Belt replacement and solution to suction loss

You say it lost its suction, then you also say this is plenty of suction power, seems you cant figure out the prob. Try cleaning the fan on the suction blower. The blades can get chocked with dust which will give you a reduced suction.

SOURCE: beater bar brush stopped working...

Does the power head motor stop, or does the brush roll stop. If it is the brush roll stopping, replace the belt and/or the brush roll. If it is the motor, you may need to clean out around the motor, it may not be getting enough air to cool causing it to overheat and stopping. That the brush roll plate off, take out the screw, and the top will come off, then you can check to see if cleaning is the answer, if not, the motor may be bad.

SOURCE: In Carpet setting, the vacuum brush does not spin

I put 3 turns of electrical tape around the area of the beater bar that meets the vacuum belt. This solved the problem short of replacing the beater bar.

SOURCE: My Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub aw/ Clean Surge

Greetings,

A few more things that you can try on your SteamVac. First remove the dirty water solution tank from the machine completely. You should see where the solution tank was just sitting, a plastic casing with a whole in it. This is actually where the suction from the motor goes into. Turn the machine on and feel the hole there for any suction coming out. Did you feel suction coming from the hole? If yes, then your issue is going to be something with the dirty solution tank, because without the tank it's sucking fine. If you didn't feel any suction from this hole, it may indicate that there is something more serious that needs to be taken care of.

One other place you may look on your machine (as long as the upholstery hose for stairs and furniture is already attached to the machine, and you don't have to hook anything up to the dirty water tank to use the attachments) while the dirty solution tank is out of it, is where the attachment hose makes connection with the vacuum. If you recline the handle down while you have the dirty water tank out, look in the back of the handle housing for a hose that enters the housing 3/4 down the housing. Now follow the hose on the inside of the handle not the outside, follow it up to the point where it goes into the neck, near where the suction hole is. Right at the end of the hose, right before the hose cuff, is this ripped, or damaged here?

Please feel free to request a clarification to this repair if you still need addtional help. If you can leave me the model number exactly that would help me help you, lol. I hope that this was helpful to you. If this was helpful to you, may you please click the helpful Thumbs Up Icon in the lower right hand corner of this repair?

Thank you so much,

My Eureka endeavor nls vacume cleaner will not suck at all. I have taken it apart to clean everything but still nothing what could be wrong with it

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

Vacuum maintenance is a general procedure and requirement for all units to ensure suction. Your Eureka can be easily maintained and by doing so properly you will make sure your unit performs at it's peak performance. The following tips will help your vacuums suction.

After every use, make sure to empty your unit's dust cup. Allowing for fine dust and debris to rest in your unit's dust cup for a long period may cause your unit to become clogged.

It is recommended to wash and clean your unit's filter screen weekly. To do so, empty your filter screen outdoors to take off any excess debris and then clean under running water until the water comes out clean. Allow the filter screen to fully dry before inserting it back into the unit. This may take up to several hours.

Foam and cloth filters should also be washed and dried weekly, by following the same steps from cleaning the filter screen. Do not use any soap, dishwasher, dryer or washing machine to do so. Allow your filters to air dry for 24 hours before re-installing them in your Eureka.

Replace your HEPA filter and belts every 6 months. Last, make sure to clear your roller brush of any tangles hair strands or debris monthly and to replace at least every year.

Can't get the roller to spin

i suggest taking hose off and declogging it by using a water hose to make sure its free of debris. Plus check your belt first take off bottom plate the you'll be able to tell if belt is broken which it sounds like it is.
if belt is good and hose is clear and still brush wont spin then your brush motor needs replacing. hope this helps.

Eureka Model Whirlwind litespeed. The rotart brush does not turn or rotate. Should it turn or rotate in order to give better suction?

Hello fnintel, yes, if you are using the upright vacuum it should spin, ( the belt likely slipped off, or the brush is clogged with hair and the likes.)
However, if you are using the hose on the vacuum like a shop vac, some models bypass the rotary brush.
Good luck!

Does the vacuum lose suction when in the floor mode if the belt is broken?

To put it simply, no. By floor mode I'm assuming you're stopping the brush roll from turning so that you can clean hard surface floors instead of carpet. When the brush roll doesn't turn you do lose agitation which vibrates the carpet so that the dirt is more easily picked up by the vacuum. But you don't lose suction because the brush is not turning.

Eureka 431BX suction stopped working. Roller still goes. Please help! Everything else is working great.

Even though the brush is spinning, you probably need to replace the belt2_bing.gif because it is stretched. It is probably slipping on the beater bar..

My eureka 437 stopped sucking

Hello,
I believe the filter on your vacuum is clogged. Bagless vacuums require the filter be brushed or washed and dried, If they are not, the filter will clog, resulting in the reduction of suction. Clean filter about every 3 months or sooner if the same problem happens again. Hope this helps.

The belt has stretch enough so as to not drive the brush roll under load. Try a new belt.

Smell/suction

The brushroll may spin when looking at it but stops when pressure of the floor is applied. The belts stretch, so they look fine but are not. The smell - if it's a rubber smell - would also be the belt. Some, or most, brushrolls can get hair in the ends that could also cause a smell and belt problem.
