Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I am not able to view pics on PC when i transfer pics from camera to PC

I suggest that you install a photo management program like Picasa from Google.
Picasa will allow you to not only view the pictures, but will help you organize and share them as well.
Picasa is free and available in a Windows and Mac version.

To use Picasa, (click here) to go to the download site.
  • At the download site, click the "Download Picasa..." button and select "Open" in the download dialog box.
  • After Picasa has been downloaded to your machine and opened, follow the on-screen directions until Picasa is installed.
  • After installation, start up the Picasa program and allow it to search your computer for pictures.
  • After a few minutes, it will find all of your pictures including the one that you transferred from your camera.
  • You will then be able to arrange and view your pictures as you like.

Thanks for using FixYa and Happy New Year!

I want to transfer only certain picturess, not all of them . I don't delete pictures after transferring and when I take a few more, when I transfer, all of the pictures transfer. I only want to select the...

Use a card reader instead of your camera. Then you can select the pics you want do download and you can drag and drop them into a folder you create or your "my pictures" folder or anywhere else. By the way, keeping a large number of pictures on a memory card for a long time can not only slow your camera down but you take a chance on the pictures becoming corrupted and unusable.
