SOURCE: KitchenAid Ice Machine doesn't freeze

First check the switch and make sure it is not in the clean position.
Check for compressor operation. if the machine is in the clean position the compressor will not run and form ice.

SOURCE: water does not flow through the dispenser

sounds like the sensors are playing up causing the bottom of the fridge to freeze, this will also cause the water reservior to freeze thus no water to the ice tray and water dispensor. do a full defrost then see if you gain back all the functions proving the sensor fault.

SOURCE: FREEZER KEEPS FREEZING UP THE DEFROST HOLE AND

Good day,
Common problem on Whirpools.
The drain hole is only the beginning. From there it goes to a cup in the fresh food compartment, where it travels thru a boot to the outside of the machine, then down to the drain pan.
That all has to be taken apart and cleaned completely. Just getting it open is not god enough.

As well, even though you can't see it, that hole in the freezer, is part of a large aluminum panel that runs up the back of the freezer coil. Ice will form on the back side of that panel, and cannot be seen.
The only solution is a 24 hour shutdown, unplugged with both doors open. Better with a floor fan, positioned to blow air into the freezer compartment.
Long and ugly, but it works.

Thank you for using FixYa

You need to clean out the drain tube it's clogged that's why the water is freezing.Try using hot water and maybe something like pipe cleaners to get what's in there out.Hope this helps. On some models it may be easier to pull out the refrig from the wall and get to the drain from the back.

Water no longer flows and therefore no ice. I've changed the filter. No improvement

Check to see if old ice remains inside the ice slots. If not then fill with tap water and allow to freeze. If after the water freezes and cubes drop into the ice bin you will need to replace the dual water control valve. If ice maker does nothing then the ice maker will need replaced. What is the model number?

look for a stuck or otherwise malfunctioning water fill valve. one way to check, turn the machine off and see if the water is still running to fill it. start with that and let me know.

The water refill tube on my icemaker freezes constantly all of a sudden. The water pressure seems low also, I used a self-tapping valve could this be a culprit? I have a Frigidaire model # 26BRSDB1. Thanks...

Most times the reason for the freezing fill tube is a leaking water control valve for the ice maker side. Unplug the electrical plug to that side on rear of refrigerator. If water continues to flow to ice maker the valve is leaking or damaged to the point that closing is not enough. If suddenly began I would not be concerned about a tap valve. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice machine is only making flakey size ice. Machine is clean and filters have been changed. Water is flowing and cold; it appears that the machine is in constant operation.

sounds like there is a problem with the water in the sump escaping. Sometimes, the plastic grate under the evap plates break and pieces get stuck in the dump valve. It is a triangular piece that the pump attaches to via a hose. It is spring loaded and the pieces prevent it from seating, thus, water leaks into the drain that you will not notice. When the water level in the sump gets low enough, it goes into a harvest and drops small slivers of ice. I'd check that out first.
Hope this helps.

Tube freezes up

your water valve is leaking water by I think you need new water valve. It is allowing the water to leak in slowly and not cutting completely off and it is freezing like and ice sickle, and eventually completely blocking water flow.

Water is freezing in the supply line for the ice maker

This usually means you have a weeping water valve. The water valve doesn't completely shut down after filling the icemaker. This deposits a staedy flow of water which freezes and accumulates in the tube, eventually blocking it off. You would need to replace the water valve which is located at the rear of the refrigerstor. One othe thing to check would be the water supply to the refrig. If the water dispenser is working fine then that isn't an issue. However, if that is flowing slowly you would need to replace the saddle valve which is tapping into your house water supply.

Floaters in filtered ice water

It is caused from calcium carbonate and magnesium among other minerals and is in hard water. When you pour the water out of the tap, no floaties, but when you freeze water, the freezing process forces the minerals into the center of the ice where it forms floaties. It is harmless, just unsightly. You can core the center of ice cubes to remove most floaties but that is impractical, so the other alternative is to get a water softener. Water softeners remove most if not all floaties.
