Can you use your SYSTEM RESTORE function? You can find it:
Start> all programs> accessories> system tools>system restore.

If this doesn't fix it, I always fall back on Realtek Audio sound drivers. I've never found anything that Realtek wouldn't get the sound working on yet. You can google it and download it for free.

Short of that, it sounds like you will need to restore your sound drivers to make your sound work.

Microphone not working

Have you tried updating or reinstalling the drivers. Is your input volume turned up? You can do that under volume control /sound properties.

No sound in speakers everything is correct

Hi there

You need to update your sound drivers,to do this go to start menu on your computer and type in the word "device manager",select it from a list of options and click on it you will see a list of components/devices that are working with your computer select the "sound" component.

Click on it and you will see your sound driver, right click the sound driver and you will see a list of options select "update driver software" this automatically search for updates, download them and install it in your computer.

You will have to restart your system for the update to work properly.

2.1 SPEAKERS NO SOUND. CONTROL PANEL DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ANY AUDIO DEVICE & CANNOT ADJUST SPEAKER VOLUME.HAVE NEVER HAD SPEAKERS HOOKED UP BEFORE.

> CONTROL PANEL DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ANY AUDIO DEVICE

That's your problem. It could be:

* the audio-device integrated on your computer's motherboard is "disabled" -- Windows cannot use it

* there is *NO* audio-device integrated on your computer's motherboard -- Windows cannot use non-existent hardware.

* Windows has not installed the correct device-drivers for the integrated audio-device.

* you have an add-in PCI audio-device, and Windows has not installed the correct device-drivers for this hardware.

Do the speakers work if the output from an iPod is connected to the input-jack on the speakers?

Do the speakers work if connected to some other computer (laptop or desktop) ?

Hallo, after update windows xp my volume control will not open simply because is says there is not active mixer devices available. and then it talls me that i need to install the mixer device at the add...

If you are intrested in uninstalling the update the you have 2 options.
I aint sure about what the active mixer is. Must be a driver malfunction or something.

You can go to the laptop manufacturer website and download the driver for the sound card and check if it works otherwise

Go to Control Panel -> Add/ Remove programs -> In the top you wil have an option which says show updates. It will show all the updates and you can uninstall the latest windows XP update.

else

Go to Start->All Programs -> Accesories -> System tools -> System restore and restore to a date earlier than 1 week.

This should help

L have a toshiba satellite m55-s331. I have very low volume. Tried the obvious inc downloading new drivers, updating ect. Nothing works! I have realtekAC97 audio driver. Please help! Keep it simple as I am...

You might be able to adjust the volume further from the control panel.

In windows xp click "start" and then select "control panel" Next click sounds, speach, & audio devices next to a speaker icon. Then click the "sounds and audio devices"

you should be able to adjust the volume there as well as a volume control on the front or side of your laptop.

good luck

Volume

I think this problem is a program generated problem, i mean your normal program is being damaged or invaded by viruses. Since a typical windows xp os works well if not threaten by other programs. One solution that i can see best is for you to have an updated antivirus program in your PC. After having an updated antivirus program clean your computer by it, then Reinstall your driver softaware for your Windows media player of if you are using different software other than windows media player pls. reinstall it.
P.S. If this helps you solve your prblem please rate me. thanks!
