Engine will not run off choke

Rebuilt engine Holly 4 barrel. Ran fine for awhile. Will start and idle with manual choke pulled. Will not rev up or develope paower. Rebuilt carb twice. No difference. Plugged all vacuum lines. Points distributor, dwell 28 degs. Timing OK. Since it ran OK have to assume cam timing, compression, etc OK. Fuel pressure 4.5 psi. Clues, things to check I missed?

Check the float level by the removal of the plug in the float bowl. At idle the fuel should be just visible in the hole threads. Adjust by turning the bolt that is at the top of the carby where the needle and seat is If you have vacuum operated second throat butterfly plates check that the gasket to the vacuum chamber is in correctly and not blocking the hole for the vacuum

I have cleaned the gas tank, fuel lines and rebuilt the carb. It now runs but just at idle almost in the choke position. I have played with the throttle and it wants to die when I move it to normal ru

if it runs only in choke it sounds like its lean (choke reduces airflow and gets back to a mixture it will run on.....just). It could just be a small bit of crud in the carby jet. You cleaned the fuel system.....did you install or replace a fuel filter? sometimes cleaning the tank and lines stirs up stuff that needs to be filtered.....even though you may had cleaned and rinsed out a lot.

I bought a 1987 chevy C3500 w/350ci engine. When I start driving it the engine is really weak and the "choke" light on the dash always stay on. The power gradually increases as I drive the truck. Aft

The choke light is connected to the choke and the oil pressure switch.
The choke coil is heated electrically and from the engine heat to make it open.
The heater could be faulty and the choke is not opening fast enough.
It may have had a Rochester Quadrajet when new.

Bike wont kick start or idle , it will coast

first drain the carby, then set your air mixture screw 2 turns out, from the fully turned in position. The starting proceedure is as follows, when the engine is COLD, turn on fuel, pull on the choke fully, and kick the engine over. DO NOT use any throttle, when the engine is cold, and the choke is on. Remember Choke on, NO throttle.
When warm, no choke, and a little throttle when kicking.

Engine bogs down when speed is increased.

Ok I have r Royobi Tiller (30CC Gas) And last year it ran fine after rebuilding the Carb. This year it was "hard starts" Idles fine, (Tiny whisps of blue smoke in exhaust with correct ratio) Even seems to run better with the choke "on" but still...at idle only. as soon as I touch the throttle...its bogs down in tune with how much gas I give it. Little throttle? Little bog down, Little more throttle? Almost stalls, a normal throttle rev? it stalls dead! Then starts right back up again in 1 pull and idles fine again!? WTF? So after cleaning a clean carb again, (twice) and seeing no change I thought I'd go look at the original diaphragm and compare it with the rebuild kit diaphragm (which is the one in the carb.) And guess what? The replacement has a larger rivet by a factor of "2". So basically it was flooding the carb, I bent the needle tang down, better but no cigar. But I could rev it half way now. A second disassemble to bend it yet a bit further and Vrooom vroom vrooom ****! So check your needle valve even though you think its 100%. (Especially if you rebuilt the carb with a kit!)
