Hi lchangkee...
If you want to upgrade your ram, all you do is remove the ram that is in the computer, and replace it with compatible ram (same number) an example of that would be if your ram was SODIMM 512MB PC2100 DDR 266 512 MB LAPTOP 200pin MEMORY, then that is the type of ram you will want to replace it with but more like this. SODIMM 2GB PC2100 DDR 266 512 MB LAPTOP 200pin MEMORY notice the only thing that changed was the amount from 512 mb to 2 gb.
Most memory cards can be removed without any problem...refer to your owners manual as to where the ram is located
Please take time to rate me
Yes this pc3200 is hardly compatible, because your motherboard is supportable of DDR 1 type RAM, Hence th PC3200 = 400 MHz, so you can add this ram to your PC, such that the ram which is between 266mhz to 400 MHz is absolutely a DDR1 type . please dont forget to vote for me.
Nowadays, motherboards supports only a selected number of RAMs. You have to read the manual and select from the given models.
I am not talking about DDR2 or 667MHz. The manual will state the manufacturer (ex. Kingston) model no (KVR667XXXXXX) etc. Only those stated in the manual will work correctly with your motherboard.
Hi, Memory Upgrade for Sony VAIO
PCG-K35 Laptop, the Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM
SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB = 256 MB
(removable) + 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your
Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the
system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 512 MB = 256 MB
(removable) + 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best
Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot
for your Laptop.
Here's a link to the Data Sheet with the specifications to that Laptop in Adobe Reader format.
Looks like your Laptop came with either 256 or 512 MB of DDR SDRAM and it is upgradable to 2 GB of DDR SDRAM.
You can check to see exactly how much RAM your computer came with by going to Control Panel, double-click System and it should tell you how much RAM you currently have in the System Properties box.
The motherboard has 2 slots for RAM, you you could add a second 256 MB or a second 512 MB stick of RAM. Or if you wanted to upgrade to the 2GB of maximum RAM this computer handles, then you can take out the RAM chip(s) that is installed and install two 1G DDR SDRAM.
For windows xp and general application 512 MB is enough.
But if you use memory intensive applications like image/video editing then you can opt for 1-2 GB RAM.
RAM - 512 MB (installed) upgradable upto 2 GB (max)DDR 2 SDRAM ( 1 x 512 MB ) that means your laptop has only 1 slot for memory.. ____________________________________________________ Was this solution helpful .Show your appreciation by rating it. dilipbagdi - Technical Associate
