Question about Jet 3 Ultra Power Chair
I just bought a usedJet 3 ultra, it has no power whatsoever. I assume the batteries need replaced due to sitting for an extended period. It came with a cord only that has the 3 prong side that goes into the wall and one that goes directly into the port under the seat on the base. It tried to charge and amp gauge didn't move whatsoever, and there isn't any lights on the controller . Is there supposed to be a charger that goes with this unit or is it built into the unit itself. There isn't any auxiliary ports on the controller or anywhere else to plug anything else in. I checked the circuit breaker by the foot rest as well as a breaker fuse in the panel, both are not tripped. Thanks, Gary
I suggest that you start with determining the condition of your batteries and work outwards from there. Dead batteries just don't want to take a charge. Test your batteries with a meter before you start part swapping. The internal charger is only about 4 amps so it will take many hours to charge a 24volt system.

If you have access to a voltmeter, put it on your battery then plug in the charger; if the voltage rises that will tell you that your charger is working.

Power cords for the Jet3 are standard computer cords. ANY desk top computer power cord will work. Pick one up at RadioShack for 9 bucks.

Mark Batteries your charger is putting our enuf 13.15 volts for each battery so after charging all night you should be reading about 13 volts on each. If your batts are only 12 volts after all night charge then batteries are weak Hope this helps

Testimonial: "Thanks very much! I wa not sure if the charger was outputting enough voltage to charge the batts, You have confirmed that the batts need replacement"
SOURCE: When I plug in my
when you plug in the charger do you get any amp reading on the meter located at the rear of the chair near where the charger cord plugs into the chair. When you plug in the cord the meter should deflect and read 6 amps or so. If you aren't getting any deflection of the amp meter then either the batteries are dead or the charger is bad. If you have a voltmeter you can set it to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the charger port located under the front of the joystick Plug the leads into the 2 outter holes of the port with the charger plugged into the wall you should be reading 27-30 volts. Unplug the charger and you will be reading the battery voltage and fully charged they should read 25-27+ volts. If you aren't reading 25-27 volts without the charger plugged in you will need new batteries( anything less than 10 volts will not let the chair turn on) if you aren't getting 27-30 volts with the charger plugged in then the charger is bad and you can get or borrow an off-board charger and charge the chair thru the joystick port Hope this helps
