SOURCE: buzz, plastic smell and no heat

Chances are you have a magnetron that's failing. GE had a rash of "underperforming" magnetrons on these units. They replace the magnetron, stirrer and high-voltage diode at no charge for parts as long as a GE-authorized service center does the work. Sometimes the unit gets run too long in a failing state and the waveguide and chassis of the oven get damaged. The bulletin shows you where tyo check. To see if yours is covered, see this bulletin: Otherwise, you need to contact GE Customer Relations at 1-800-386-1215 as soon as possible and tell them your problem and they will put you in touch with a local authorized servicer.

SOURCE: Clock will run down to 1 second of the minute and microwave will stop

The surge probably didn't cause this. This common error indicates a problem in the convection damper circuit. It may be a defective damper switch, damper motor, or a jammed damper door. I have attached a drawing of a typical damper system. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: You can order parts for Sharp models from Tritronics at

SOURCE: Husqvarna 55 chainsaw won't stay running.

It has a crack in the fuel line between the body and the tank. The crack lets air in the line. Replace the line.

Mass airflow sensor

Remove air cleaner assembly, it will be on the passenger side of the throttle body. Its secured by two phillips screws and a 3-wire harness. I'd suggest cleaning it with MAF cleaner before removing/ replacing as they are not cheap. $300 at parts store/ dealer or $75 on ebay.

How do I clean the carborator?

Remove carb from mower. Use carb cleaner and small acid brush to clean outside of carb. Remove bowl from bottom of carb. Clean bowl. Observe bolt that held carb bowl to carb, see if it has a hole or holes thru it. Clean out holes with bread wrapper wire with about 1in of wire. Test float, float down fuel flow, float up fuel stops. Use bread wrapper to clean center port of carb from bottom up thru carb body. Remove float pin float and meter needle, use bread wrapper to clean meter needle passage up thru carb body. Re-assemble carb.
Honda carbs can be purchased new for $14 - $27.

My briggs and straton 6.75 engine for self proppelled does not want to start. Is the carborator suppose to close when pulling the string or it can stay open. or could you tell what the problem could be. It...

The carburetor would be closed when starting if the automatic choke is functioning right. When you cleaned around the air filter, could some cleaner or debris have gotten into the carb? The line you took off is the crankcase ventilator tube, where crankcase gases are drawn from the lower engine and recycled back into the upper part of the engine to be burned with the fuel; like the PCV line on a car engine. A no start condition can be caused by numerous things. You may have ingested some cleaner/dirt/debris when you cleaned around the air filter area. Remove the air filter again, get some carb/choke cleaner aerosol spray and spray it into the carb with the throttle open. Immediately put the engine in START and try to start it. Try this a few times and you may be able to "coax" it into running and the gas flow may flush out the carb. Another thing to try is drain the old gas, remove the bowl on the carburetor and clean any sediment or water out of it. The brass screw holding the bowl on the carb has to be cleaned too. Use nothing metal to clean it. It has very small holes in it as it is the main jet to the carb. Clean the hole in the bottom and the very small ones in the smooth part 2/3 up the bolt. Try these things. Also make sure your spark plug is cleaned, gapped and sparking correctly. Post back if needed.

Heater shuts off after a minute or two - fan keeps blowing

make sure to unplug the stove take the two rear feet off, remove screws from back you have to bow the back in the center until you can remove it gently lay stove on its front being careful to not damage the door handle.
remove the heater unit from the bottom of stove, there are three screws on each side remove the corner screws leave the 2 center screws until last take a shop vac , clean blower wheel and carefully blow all the dust threw the heating assembly so the air flow isn't restricted. This fixed mine and it works perfectly. the airflow being restricted causes the unit to overheat and shuts off the safety switch.

Dishes don't get clean!

The problem is probably that the chopper/cutter filter is pluged. It needs to be cleaned
1. Remove bottom basket. Remove top basket (Pop off 'keepers' at the ends of the slidding shelf supports.
2. Remove bottom washing arm. Unscrew (Gently but firmly) the centre post. Lift arm assembly out.
3. Remove overhead conduit. One screw at back and one at the top (Philips #2 bit). Rotate the whole assembly 45 deg to right (Clockwise) and lift off of the centre post. It can then be taken apart and cleaned.
4, Remove centre post (pull straight up). Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit). Lift whole assembly out. Pop off the screen (Flat blade screwdriver around the edge) and clean.
5. Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is a single screw at front left (Under assembly remover in 4. Remove screw (Star T-15 bit) and cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove cutter & filter. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter blade foreward and lift the filter disc straight up. Clean thoroughly. I then ran a 'quick rinse' cycle with everything out.

My kenmore dishwasher isn't cleaning the dishes very good

Your broblem is probably the cutter/chopper filter. This is located under the bottom cleaning arm assembly.
Remove the baskets.
Remove the bottom washing arm. Unscrew the centre post and lift off the arm
Remove the conduit to the top arm(s). Remove screw at top and at back. Rotate the conduit assembly 45 deg right and lift off.
Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit) and lift whole assembly out. Pop off screen and clean.
Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is one screw at left front under assembly just removed. Remove it and the plastic cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove the cutter and filter. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull in foreward and also lift the filter disc up and out. Thoroughly clean the filter.
