Rinnai 1004ftr Our heater is showing error 12 but the gas bottle has been replaced and gas stove still working so assuming not a gas problem. Anything else we should try? Have cleaned filters etc

A code 11 also means that it might not be getting any gas. On thr right side of the unit you will find a small door. open it up and make sure the valve is in the open position. If it is, you should contact your gas company to come and diagnose what is going on. The Rinnai is not a do it yourself fix it type of heater.

replace the flame rod. or it could be the computer board for the flame rod. flame rod detects the presence of a flame.

SOURCE: Rinnai Heater - error message "12"

An error code of 12 on your heater means a flame failure has occured. It could be the following: Flame Rod dirty, Obstruction in burner, improper gas pressure, or a bad ignitor board. I am suggesting you get a technician who is familiar with Rinnai products to check out the above items.

12 is a fault code, look in the book if you have if, i think 12 is no or low gas pressure, cheers

My Rinnai energysaver 557ftr is showing error code 12. It will turn on, the fan works and it makes a bubbling noise and the flame lights but then immediately goes out and the heater stops.

It is a Gas Appliance and needs repair by a qualified gas registered technician. It is a generic code for 'no flame'.

Heat shuts off, red power light blinking and number 12 blinking on the display screen.
You may have had a power failure. The situation could be as simple as turning the stove off and on again. The 12 code means flame failure. Gas heater are nothing to mess around with if you don't understand them completely. Don't remove anything from the unit unless you are very sure what you're doing. A call to Rinnai is in order if the code keeps coming on. Good luck,

Rinnai 1004 F Error Code 11
Code 11 is that the unit is trying to light but does not sense a flame after 5 seconds. Usually means you have run out of gas if you are bottled gas. Check your bottles are turned on if you are on LPG, you might need to change over manually. Have you anything else on gas?

Heater goes out after 20min error code 12 appears
Definately a gas supply problem. If it was an overheat you would get a different code. Error code 12 meant a flame was there but then went out. The code 11 meant tried to light but no flame sensed. Error code 12 on heaters and Infinites is nearly always a fault on the gas regulator at the bottles. Sure I recognise your company name from up in Queensland. As you might know we hae had problems with an oily residue in some regulators for ages. I am recommending going away from two stage regs and spliting them up with a seperate first stage and then a second stage. Bit more expensive by zero call backs.

Error code 12
Three main causes.

Short circuit on the low voltage side of the wiring (12V) This will show as an immeadiate error code 12 befoe the thing even tries to light.

Faulty earth on the low voltage side shows same as above.

A faulty gas regulator or partial blockage of gas supply that allows the unit to fire, but will not maintain sufficient gas supply to keep it alight. This will happen after it has lit, maybe erratically with the occasional error code 11 if you try and re-light immeadiately.

Rinnai heater flashes code 12
Bailey,

Next time you try your stove watch the flame. If the flame goes away and then the error code comes on, you have something wrong with the over temp circuit, gas or gas valve, If the code comes on and then the flame goes away you have a flame sensor problem.

Rinnai 2001 Gas Heater - turn off
If, like me you have a Rinnai **** heater, with a PCB Assembly, then thats what the problem is. Look at around $500+ installation. These PCB's are not repairable. For $500, I am going to trash this heater and get something from a company that does not want to screw me after I have trusted them to live up to their "REPUTATION". Do not support companies that do not support their customers!
