SOURCE: Curve 8900 internal membrane!

the area under the track ball can cause this issue if itget's wet. Cleaning that area with a brush can sometime get it upand running again. Ifyou're out of warranty try to remove the trackball and clean the areabelow it if you see any residue from the water. There is a Blackberry Repair Guidethat shows how to open a Blackberry and remove the track ball yourself. Pretty much just pry the chrome ring off and take the track ball out.

Sounds like your trackpad needs replacement. The part is available on major auction websites for around $10. If you want somebody else to do it for you go to Blackberry Repair. If you want to do it yourself, here is an Blackberry 8520 Repair Guide that shows how to repair a Blackberry.

Roller ball won't work

First Try to carefully clean the track ball with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, if that does not work see if the device is under warranty before trying this next step (verify warranty by calling carrier) take a small jewelry flathead screwdriver and remove the chrome piece from around the ball and clean the entire assembly with rubbing alcohol

Hope This Helps

My blackberry has problem with rollerball not responding when pressed

The balls get clogged with grease and skin from your finger over time. turn off the blackberry or pull the battery. Get rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and rub the top of the ball getting off as much of the black as you can. Rotate it slightly and do the same until the entire ball is done. Then push quickly upward against the ball, downward, left, and then right several times in each direction.

Replace the battery, start the phone, and see how it works.

My alt button on the blackberry curve 8320 is stuck...when I do a battery pull the alt icon appears top right hand corner. I have the equipment to open up the blackberry and have to clean it out but still...

One method to fix where an electronic device has a stuck key is to thoroughly clean it with a high percentage isopropyl based rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab.

You may also try to reset your blackberry to factory defaults by following the steps in your user manual for a factory reset.

Blackberry 8300 trackball click button broken it scrolls not click

You either supressed the button under the ball in, and its going to need to be sent in for repair.
Or
Try this:
Rubbing alcohol and a cutip and rub it all over your trackball, if there is some dust that may have got caught under the button, hopefully the rubbing alcohol cleans this and releases the button.
Try it out let me know, Cheers,

I have a trackball that is sticking on a blackberry bold 9000 how do you go about changing one out and is it the same size trackball as a curve

1. It is the same trackball as the curve.

2. Unlike the curve, where you can just pop the silver ring out from the front and the entire trackball comes out, on the Bold, you have to take the unit apart.

3. To take the bold apart follow these instructions:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yvs4VM5d_rk

4. Make sure that the contact underneath the trackball is not dirty. Take a QTip and some rubbing alcohol and clean the contact on the mainboard which makes contact with the trackball.

5. You can then replace the trackball from the curve into the bold, although, if you dont have a spare trackball, you can also clean the trackball with rubbing alcohol. To do this, I would put a solution of 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% distilled water (regular water is ok, but I prefer distilled). Shake it around (or better yet, use a sonic jewelry cleaner)and make sure to roll the ball around to loosen any dirt in the unit. Underneath the rollerball there is a little tab (that is called the spoon). Do not bend the spoon, rather make sure that the area between the spoon and the ball is cleaned out.

6. let everything dry and reassemble.

If you dont have a spare rollerball and want to buy one, There are many for sale on Ebay at around $5.
