Problem for Nikon D300 Body Only Digital Camera
Nikon D300 seems to change and locked on a f stop!

If I am shooting 640 @ f8 with 51 auto focus w 3D- The camera regularly changes on its own to 640@ F90 or F95 and locks on a center weight single focus showing one focus point on the LED screen and I cannot change it or the f stop back without shutting of the camera and removing the 80-400VR lens being used and trying again. It does this over and over again causing photos to be missed as they turn out pitch black. What am I doing wrong? So frustrating!! Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like you have it in Shutter priority mode where your speed will always stay the same but your f/stop will change accordingly.
