I just bought a 1996 mazda 626 lx with 170,000 miles on it. the radiator was leaking and the car kept reading that it was overheating. so we sealed up the leak in the radiator and the dip stick was smoking where the oil is. i drove it to see if it works and 5 minute later it stoped completely it wouldn't even turn over. my father said that it was water in the oil but i don't think so. can anyone please help me.I hate taken the bus
Thanks, you are good person. Have you tried turning it over with a socket on the crank bolt? What state do you live in? I might be able to give you a line on a used engine that might be affordable?

no
blown head gaskets will boil very quickly
I would be checking the temp SENDER unit for the temp gauge as it may be faulty and making the gauge read wrong
run the fault codes to check for coolant SENSOR for a possible fault as well
of course the top is hot water goes into the rad from the top and out of the bottom into the engine, the fact that the belt broke makes me wonder about the integrity of the water pump, the impeller might be slipping, could still be the rad , does the heat go from the top to the bottom???
This can be caused by few things but most likely by moisture. Mazda's immobilizer has this weekness that if it gets some dampness it can kick in. But to be 100% sure what was it it is best to get diagnostics test done.
It sounds like it's actually burning the oil, rather than leaking it then, I'm assuming that your usage is a lot more than the drop you mention. The entire car has 234k on it? (or did you mean just the trans?) With that many miles I wouldnt be surprised if your valves are letting a little oil slip into the combustion chamber. If the usage is bad enough, it may be time for a valve job, or even a rebuild.
You have air in your cooling system. Fill your cooling system when the car is cold. First check the radiator if it has a cap, fill that first, replacethe cap tightly, then fill the overflow tank to the indicated level. Start it and turn the heater to the full hot position. Let it run untill it reaches opperating temperature. Quickly squeezing the upper radiator hose 3 or 4 times every now and then to "burp" the system. look for leaks. If this does not solve the problem you may possibly have a headgasket leak.
If it's the org. engine it will has over 150,000 miles on it. It's normal to has the valve seal/oil seal on the head to leak oil into the cyclinder. The smoke you see is the motor oil drop from the seals. It land on the top of the cyclinders and it create black smoke at start up. The inexpensive fix is to start using high mileage oil with seal conditioner. This will help soften the rubber seals and help reduce internal oil leak. The correct fix is to wait until it's time for a head gasket replacement and let the professional service the head. Complete head service is the only method to stop this internal oil drip problem.
, ckeck the upper hose to see if it is hot , than ckeck the bottom hose , is it cool , the temp sould be about the same .if it is super hot on top and cold at the bottom hose , the raditor may be blocked, and the coolant is not flowing. you can try to flush the radiator . look to see if there metal shaving in the coolant . if there is the radiator is breaking down. this happen to me , my car would over heat change radiator car is a,ok easy fix . radiator barn .com
Take the radiator to a radiator repair shop near you and have them acid bathe it and check it for leaks. It is possible that it could be full of stop leak.
