There are a several of things that can cause this problem:

1. The Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) is clogged and reads the Oxygen Level in the room as
Unsafe for Operation. Solution: Clean the ODS, which is part of the Pilot Assembly With canned
compressed & a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with). It will require some dis-
mantling of your heater,

2. Once Pilot is lit, not waiting long enough for the Thermopileto heatup, before pushing the Medium
button. Allow pilot to burn at least one minute, before switching to any heat selection.

3. Gas pressure problem. Have the gas pressure to the unit checked, as well as the gas pressure
at the gas control valve, while unit is in operation.

If you continue to have this problem after completing the Solution in # 1. Call the Rinnai Helpline
1 300 366 388 or contact your local Rinnai Dealer, who you purchased the unit from.

Is there an adjustment to have pilot light stay on after given length if time. Our rev oven pilot takes longer then one minute. About 1 1/2 min

No it is a safety feature that the pilot has to heat up the thermocouple to assure the main gas valve that the pilot is alight and hot.

Hello My Heater Rinnai Granada 25 is very hard to start, I need to hold the button for quite a while and let it up very slowly ,if I am lucky it will stay a light. Thanks Pepe.

Pepe, this is generally a sign that either the pilot is dirty or the Thermocouple is starting to fail .I'd bet on the Thermocouple. This is an issue that will have to be solved by an authorized Rinnai Service Technician. Which would be the dealer the heater was purchased from.

Hope this helped and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Rinnai gas log heater (royale) keeps cutting out. now it wont stay on at all. the ignition is fine, the gas flow seems fine and the fan works fine. we vacuum the dust out regularly

When you say "it won't stay on at all." Do you mean the burner and the pilot flame shut off together or does the pilot remain lit? Is the unit showing any Fault Codes on the LCD display?

We have a Rinnai 2000D heater. The pilot light goes out and is then difficult or impossible to restart. The igniter is working and there is the smell of gas, just doesnt seem to be enough gas there to...

you can try cleaning the pilot light with sand paper, (where the hole in the end is where the gas comes out) they get carbon built up over time and causes the hole to get smaller which makes the pilot light not want to stay light because of the small amount of gas coming out.

You are half-way right, to light the pilot, light it and push down the red button and hold it for at ----least2-minutes-- till the flame heats up the pin (thermocouple- which fire-thermocouple metal makes electricity which sends it to the gas valve and says ,OK GAS VALVE,I'VE GOT A PILOT FLAME SO OPEN UP THE MAIN GAS VALVE! See where I'm going with this?

Infared heater

When was the last time you cleaned the pilot? In your owners manual there is a cleaning procedure. If you can't find the manual, go to www.rinnai.us. You may be able to download one from their site.
