Question about Whirlpool RBS305PD Electric Single Oven

No heat after self-cleaning

After doing a self cleaning in the oven, it quit working. All the controls works but it doesn't produce heat on either bake, broil or self-clean. Thank you for the help.

Is the oven easy to pull out? How would I recognize the temperature fuse? I guess this is the same thing as the thermal cutout which I've read in other blog spots.

I contacted a repairman and was told that it was not the thermal fuse or the sensor that is bad. He said it was the timer board and is very expensive. He'll give me a price quote tomorrow. Could you advise please. Thanks again.

I have just had the same problem. They claim the overtemp is a one time fuse. It happened to be the weekend right before Christmas and I needed the oven. I could not buy the one time overtemp. I removed the overtemp breaker and carefully drilled out the dimples to remove the metal case. Inside you find a disk that changes shape when heated. I reset the small diaphram plate and reinstalled to maintain the plunger and breaker in a closed contact position and reset the case and epoxyed to dimples with new pins. The oven now is working for the holidays.

A quick test is to place a continuity tester on the contacts. The 'fuse' should be a normally closed contact only to open when overheated.

Saved the dinner and $45. Good Luck

Gain access to top of oven...pull it out if necessary. remove all panels possible and look for a wire connection that has deteriorated with high temperature. this may not be easy to see, so use a continuity meter and check across each wire-to-terminal connection. it also is possible that the over temperature fuse (or breaker) has opened. check for this also. for further help, ask me.

also...power down first and remove breaker from CB panel of house.

look for any mounting screws first, even if you must remove the front panel. now prepare a makeshift prop that will hold the oven or have an assistant nearby to hold oven while you pull it out and remove the wire connections leading to power source (these connections will most likely be inside a junction box). now place the oven on a work table.
you can recognize the temperature fuse by tracing the wires in this sequence: start with wire leading to a heating coil, now follow it back the other direction. does it go to a device on top of the oven and does another wire lead out from this device? the device may be a round disc shape. this device effectively breaks the wire connection if too much temperature. Also check the heating coils for continuity...you want to see very low resistance through these, about 2-5 ohms.

My whirlpool oven model RBD245 is locked after the self cleaning cycle, it does not heat up even if i open the latch with a tool?

Whirlpool have the self clean latch assembly solenoid go bad and wont return back to unlock the switch to tell the control is is no longer in self clean. Replace the self clean latch assembly or make sure the switch on the assembly is in the non self clean mode, If the oven starts working then you know the problem if it still doesn't work then there may be other issues.

Pyrolitic mode heats up quite hot. Might have tripped the high temp cutout.

Not heating up after cleaning

There is a thermal sensor mounted to the back of the oven if it over heats the sensor will disable the oven heating elements. replacing the part would allow the oven to heat but if you reuse the self cleaning it may go out again. some ovens need to be modified to prevent reoccurance during self cleaning cycle.

Oven won't heat

The only reason I know the answer to your question is because I am having the same problem. Our appliance quit working after we used the cleaning option. Both the bake and broiler quit at the same time. Our local repair man said that the problem is caused from a malfunctioning thermostat, which is about a $300 fix.

Whirlpool RBS305PDQ11. After self-clean, oven won't heat up.

This seems to be a common problem with these ovens. The oven got too hot and the tco (Thermo cut off)tripped. This will have to be replaced. It is located behind the control board.
