Above is a service training manual, to give you an idea of how it all works. To do ANY work, one MUST obtain a Service manual for your exact make and model.
This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, a Philips, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand.

SOURCE: Philips widescreen flat TV model #50PF9966-37 50"

From what I'm seeing online, the bulbs in the Ambilight may be the culprit. I also read that a firmware upgrade could fix the issue too. There was also a recall of some TV's with that issue, so I would check with Philips about your model and serial number and see if your TV was included in the recall. If you raise enough cain and threaten to never buy from them again, they may get your set fixed for you... even if the warranty is up!

Good luck and please post feedback!

SOURCE: my 42pf7220a phillips hdtv lost

This is not a problem with either of the two boards you have mentioned. The loss of picture in a plasma is caused by faulty sustain boards. In most Philips plasmas I have seen, both the X-sus and Y-sus boards have to be replaced to solve this. The cost is about 150$ for both boards

Have a phiips tv had it in storage for over a year turned it on an the screen working perfectly but there a hising noise coming from the back of it do no what it is... Its a big bk tv not flat screen box...

hissing noise will be from high voltage regulator, i would suggest to do following:

1. switch tv off
2. remove plug from the wall
3. using air blower (compressor attachment - not leaf one!) blow the dust, especially from high voltage box section
4. connect the tv and switch on

if tv still issue hissing noise - follow 1 and 2 then:
3. remove back cover
4. use air blower again...
5. re-install back cover
6. reconnect tv and switch on

if hissing noise persist - check for blown capacitors on high voltage, replace if necessary, they have nasty tendency to pop if they are too long in storage, especially if tehy were overheated or frozen.

hope this will help you solve the problem, do not forget to vote...

No Power - hissing but no picture

Power supply capacitors are the most likely culprit. Look for bad solder connections as well.

Speakers have hissing noise coming out of them

Hook a graphic equalizer between the piano and speakers, and turn down all sliders above 8 kHz. Since the highest note of a piano is 4186 Hz (4.186 kHz), you'll still hear all the notes but cut the hiss. If the hiss is coming from the speaker's power amplifier (in which case the equalizer won't help), turn down the speaker volume and turn up the piano volume. Live instruments generally need some doctoring to sound good through high-quality stereo equipment, as they only produce a limited range of frequencies whereas good speakers reproduce a lot more - including hiss.

Hissing noise in house

To solve this you are going to need to start eliminating things. You say you hearing is good, well just make sure next time you hear the hissing put your fingers in your ears to make sure it goes away. If it doesn't then it is internal i.e you have tinitus.

Next start turning things off at the mains. Your hifi can't hiss if it has no power, so try turning it off at the mains by unplugging it. If it is not your HiFi then start turning other things in your house off. Till you stop it.

Andrew

Power Problem

The hissing noise on your speakers is because of arcing. Do not try to operate repeatedly or you may do severe damage. The most likely culprit is the inverter board but you will have to disassemble the monitor to find out. Any loose connection that results in an arc will create noise on speakers. Hissing is usually a result of the high frequency/ voltage output small enough amperage to not blow your power supply If it were a DC arc you would just get a one time pop.
