Question about Mitsubishi CS-27407 27" TV

1 Answer

Black square in middle of screen about 25in X 25 in

While in cabletv mode, inadverdantly hit an "unknown " key on the cable co provided remote control by Scientific atlantic..Explorer cable box. The remote control from cable co is of no value in removing the black square. The original remote provided by Mitsubishi is unable to remove the caption from the screen, which appears to be the underlying problem causing the screen to reproduce the "black square" about 25x25. Any ideas out there in cyberspace?

If a black square appears on the screen and you can see the picture around the edges, it means that the closed captions are on and set to "TEXT". Go into the TV's menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF.

There is a black square in the middle of tv

That is coming from the closed captioning. It has been turned on and it is in text mode. The captioning is most likely coming from the television but it can also be coming from your cable box/satellite receiver. Find your television remote's cc button and press it until it says off on your screen. If your remote does not have one closed captioning should be in the menu. If the text box is coming from a cable box there are a couple of ways to disable it not limited to a button on the remote and a hidden menu you can access when turning it off from the on off button directly on it and pressing the menu button located directly on it.

My wife attempted to use close caption. We now have a black square in the middle of the screen that won't go away. We have comcast cable.

It is a Text box. Use the Caption control on the TV remote or go to the TV Captions menu to turn it off.

On our tv screen is a big black square on the bottom of the screen we dont have the orignal tv remote

It sounds like the set has been put into the text mode. This setting is in the CC or closed caption section of the menu. You should be able to access this with the menu button on the front of the set. Turn it off when you get to that section of the menu. This black box is where the "text" for CC would normally be written if your cable service provided it. Thanks

Square box in middle of t.v. black everywhere else.

Turn off the closed-captioning. If it's set for text mode, the screen will blank out an area for the text to be displayed. On channels or programs where captions aren't being used you won't see any problems, but other times you'll have the mysterious black box. Many TV remotes have a single button to control captions, so it's easy to get into text mode without knowing it.

Black display box (nothing in it) in middle of screen

Someone has accidentally turned the Close Caption Text mode on. Go into your menu locate the closed caption section and just navigate to turn it off and that's it.... sometimes the remote may have it on there labeled CC.

Black box in middle of screen

If you have a menu button on the front of your tv go into the closed caption portion and turn off the text mode . This will get your picture back . If you don't have a menu button on the front of your tv you will need a remote that can access the menu . Good luck
