Question about Hoover Nextra HNL 3166 Z Front Load Washer

Open Question

Not clearing the powder or conditioner drawers

Neither the powder or the conditioner drawer is having the water fill cycle through them. Water is only being directed to the third compartment in the drawer. I have cleaned everything and reinstalled but still the same. Is it a problem with the water feed solenoid s or a programming board?

SOURCE: fabric conditioner still in compartment after wash

Most washers recommend dilluting the softener with water when you put it in the compartment. It can build up and completely block it. I've had to manually remove it with anything I could find to reach it and since I've started dilluting it have had not problem.

Washing powder compartment fills up with water

It's probably just caked with powder or conditioner and needs cleaned. Your handbook gives instructions on how to remove the drawer. Alternatively the dispenser to drum inlet hose may be blocked and some hot water may clear that.

I have taken apart the dispenser drawer and all its hoses and housing to clean any residue but the machine will not dispense the fabirc softener. Washing powder is fine not problem but fabric softener...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I hope you do not mind me saying this but, although you have cleaned the softener drawer, the siphoning tube is often overlooked because it is difficult to access.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.
If all is clear it could be that the water dispensing is not filling the softener tray itself. It is possible to check by selecting (final?) rinse and pulling the drawer out very slightly until you can see and hear the water running in. If it isn't it's a call-out ;-0(
Good luck,
John C

I have a LG front loader Washer, and after a complete wash cycle, the detergent cup is filled with clear water.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is a common problem with many machines and I suspect that the detergent drawer needs a thorough clean!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catch underneath or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.

Water pours out through the powder drawer when machine is started

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Although you do not say which model it is, this is a common problem with many machines. If the powder channel is clean and clear I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which is causing water to overflow from the drawer so it needs a thorough clean- but clean them all!
Following is my 'generic/standard' document, copied and pasted ;-0)

Fabric softener drawer filling with water

lift out the blue part of the conditioner compartment and you'll see attached a tube at the end.
clean this out completely.
also check the tube in the compartment is clear.
poke a cotton bud down it to clear it.
if you want to check to see if its worked take the drawer out(blue button at back of drawer) put the blue grid back in the dispenser and fill the compartment up under the tap ,hold the drawer level.
as it gets full you should see water start to flow out the back ,turn the tap off and if its worked the compartment will slowly empty.
these were a big problem for hotpoint and concentrated conditioners will block it regularly.

Detergent drawer filled with water

remove the drawer and clean the siphon it sounds as if it is blocked up either with powder or concentrated fabric softener. this should fill up with water and then empty itself due to gravity. the siphon should look like an upside down cup on a cylinder.

Fabric conditioner not taken or not dispensed.

take out the drawer that the powder and conditioner goes in. the conditioner spout to allow the liquid to empty from the drawer will be blocked with a mixture of powder and conditioner. clear it thru with a sharp screwdriver or similar and wash under the tap. replace back in place should empty fine then. hope this helps.

Remove dispenser drawer from m/c, and thoroughly clean it and all accessories.Clean all residual build up of undesolved powder and conditioner in drawer compartment..
If it still leaks, then remove top cover, locate large black hose at bottom of dispenser, and give it a good squeeze to clear any possible blockage in the hose itself..
If still no better, could be due to exceptionally high water preesure forcing the water out of the drawer.

Turn cold water valve down a little to reduce pressure.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
