Question about Dolphin Maytronics Advantage

Open Question

Power supply box

Supply Power Box not responding at all. Brand new, used it for a first time cleaning, cleaned for a little bit and then power supply box will not turn on at all. No lights, no reponse, there is no fuse box for us to check. And the manual that came with this product is just about useless for any indication of what it might be.

SOURCE: Does not work at all

Thank you for posting your question here on

For information on getting your dolphin serviced please visit and select the dolphin button along the bottom of the site. Complete the questionnaire and we can proceed from there. I assume by check you have verified that there is the correct output voltage across pins 2 and 3 at the socket. The remaining items are the cable and the motor unit itself. Neither is considered a do-it-yourself repair item. Providing the units serial number can help with estimating any chance of warranty coverage as well as possible repair pricing prior to sending it in for repair. If you are not in the upper East coast / mid-West area, we can refer you to a service center in your part of the country.

SOURCE: power supply light when turned

Thank you for posting your question here on

You likely cannot fix it without some special tools, parts and a scanner to diagnose where the problem lies. If you would like to try here are some steps to try:

For starters, try the tip I posted here on Fixya, found at: If that is not enough, try our sites FAQ section on Dolphins at Select the FAQ button then from the drop-down select Dolphin.

If none of this helps your problem could be in the power supply, cable or motor unit. An illuminated light or lights on the power supply to not verify it is putting power out to the cleaner via the cable.

The motor unit is the most likely problem; the motor(s) inside it is probably failing. When the drive motor and/or impeller motor move you can assume the power supply and cable/electric connections are ok.

Whether the unit is in or out of warranty you can either send it to a service center (which we are one) or try to repair it yourself however it is not recommended you open the cord end that connects to the motor unit as you are breaking the seal for the submersible electronics. You should also be aware that there are no parts available for inside the motor unit. If anything inside is damaged a whole new assembly is required. The motor unit for that cleaner is about $400 and when installed by a non-service center does not come with a warranty so you are better off sending it in for a complete diagnosis and estimate.

For information about the repair and sending it to a center you can contact Dolphin direct at or our site at

Processor fan is very noisy from start up to all the time I am on line.

Good day , you may need to power-off her PC, open it up, and give it a good cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. If possible, after you've got her PC open, and before you clean it, turn it back on so you can figure out which fan is causing the noise problem (many PCs have more than one fan). If it's the CPU fan, then you're going to want someone who is comfortable and experienced with removing it and replacing it with a new one, because it is EXTREMELY important to get 100% physical contact between the CPU chip itself and the cooling fan/housing that is attached to it, or the CPU is going to overheat and destroy itself within seconds of being turned back on. If the noise turns out to be from a normal case cooling fan (3-5 inches across), you can try cleaning it really well to remove any dust, and see if that fixes the problem. If not, you can buy a replacement fan of the appropriate size at pretty much any PC store for $5-$20. It takes 5-10 minutes to unscrew the old fan and install the new one, and just use the same electric wire from the old fan for the new fan.
If the noise turns out to be from the computer's power supply, you cannot repair it, so it needs to be replaced. I would recommend either replacing it yourself, or having someone who has done it before replace it for you. There's usually only 4 screws that hold the entire power supply box in the case, and then you also have to unplug the power cords that go from the power supply to the hard drives, floppy drive, CD drive, other internal peripherals, motherboard, and fans. Carefully remove the entire power supply box from the PC case, being careful to not scrape it or bang it against any of the memory cards or other internal components. Take the noisy power supply with you to a discount computer store and find a new power supply that's the same physical size and at least as many watts as the current one (usually 350-500 watts). If you go with a generic power supply, it will probably cost around $30. If you go with a name brand, high-wattage power supply, it can cost $100 or more. Hope this information help you in resolving your issue. Have a great day.

Power supply not staying on

Sounds like when cleaning your computer, you have also cleaned your processors heat sink and fan. right.

if you have done this then there in lies problem.
either your heat sink is not placed correctly
or you forgot to apply a new thermal interface material. because once you remove the heat sink the interface material is of no use. you must apply a new one. and check that you have placed the heat sink correctly and firmly.

Shut Off

I have used several asus boards with good luck. I would say your power supply is to little or going bad. I have a power supply tester, I bought at tiger direct (very cheap) and it has saved me alot of problems. Believe it or not, memory can cause this problem. Try taking out a stick if you have two. I dont remember where you set it, but you can set the time for inactivity to turn your computer off. It sound likes your processor is under load when this happens, so maybe it is getting hot. Blow out the dust from your cooling fan and processor. Make sure your north and south bridges are clean also.
